As a Special Education Teacher, you will use a multi-sensory approach to provide students a rigorous curriculum in a flexible, differentiated manner that focuses on their unique learning styles. Under the direction of the Clinical Director and Director of Special Education, you will be part of a team that tracks and monitors students progress and adjust programming to create a situation that will allow the student to progress academically.Responsibilities Assesses, supervises or approves the educational needs of the student Prepares daily lesson plans consistent with evaluations and /or IEPs and overall education plan.Generates lesson plans no later than the second day of educational programming.Writes, review and update lesson plans to reflect all major areas of instruction appropriate to the academic level of each student.Is responsible for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning.As required, is responsible for IEP preparation and presentation.Demonstrates the ability to function as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team.Uses expertise of team members in planning and implementing educational and behavioral programs when appropriate.Assists other team members in interpreting evaluation of findings.Participates actively in departmental staff meetings.Suggests improvements in department functions as it relates to the educational services.Shares expertise and provides support to other educational staff members.Performs a variety of other related duties requested by the department or the school, and complies with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.RequirementsBachelors and/or Masters degree in Special Education; Special Education certification from the RI or CT Department of Education Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to students throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the BCBA independently provides school-based functional behavioral analytic services (assessment, treatment, and consultation) for students attending the Bradley Schools. BCBAs also may provide supervision of graduate-level trainees.BCBAs consistently apply the corporate values of respect, honesty, and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly, geographically-accessible, and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system.BCBAs participate actively in the behavioral assessment of Bradley School students.BCBAs may serve as treatment team leaders for Bradley School classrooms. BCBAs deliver high-quality services for students admitted to the school program or referred for outpatient consultation.BCBAs may provide supervision of graduate-level trainees enrolled in BCBA programs, as assigned.BCBAs adhere to all school policies, procedures, and practices.BCBAs provide effective leadership, as well as guidance and support, to their assigned teams, as needed or requested.Position RequirementsRequires a Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from an accredited schoolBoard certification as a BCBA by the Behavior Analytic Certification Board.Licensure by the RI Department of Health as an Applied Behavior AnalystRequires demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to school-aged youth, with consideration of developmental processes, as well as cultural, familial, and individual factors that may influence educational, emotional, and behavioral functioning and progress.Preferred QualificationsExperience in a clinical and/or school setting is highly preferred.Experience working with students with autism is preferred.One to two years of specialized clinical experience with children and adolescents preferred.Brown University Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
