<p></p><div><div>The essential function of the position within the organization is to provide responsible administrative, secretarial and clerical support to the Honorable Dane Leitner. The position is responsible for administrative, secretarial and clerical tasks of high confidentiality and responsibility.</div></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div><ul><li>Provide organizational support for the judge&rsquo;s caseload, including preparing orders, docketing jury instructions and a list of pending cases; ordering jurors and coordinating in-house services, such as interpreters, review case files for accuracy, format compliance and completeness prior to submitting files to the judge.</li><li>
Compose and/or edit correspondence, memoranda, directives, notice, orders and other documents observing strict confidentiality.</li><li>
Prepare yearly financial disclosure forms.</li><li>
Make travel arrangement and process travel vouchers.</li><li>
Prepare and maintain the judge&rsquo;s court and professional calendar.</li><li>
Schedule and coordinate motions, hearings and conferences.</li><li>
Process electronically filed documents.</li><li>
Screen calls and visitors to the judge&rsquo;s office.</li><li>
Establish a working relationship with judges, court personnel, attorneys, law enforcement, social services, witnesses and the general public.</li></ul></div><div></div><div><i><br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div>High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of college or vocational school education in paralegal, secretarial skills, computer operation or closely related field and 4 years of experience as a legal secretary or paralegal; or any equivalent combination of education or experience.</div><div></div><div><i><br>
Relevant experience and/or education may substitute for the recommended minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.</i></div><div><b><br>
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</b></div><div><ul><li>
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>
Ability to e-file court documents and implement a paperless process.</li><li>
Ability to organize documents electronically.</li><li>
Proficient in a technologically driven environment with intermediate to advanced computer skills.</li><li>
Ability to type proper memoranda, briefs, drafts, opinions in the standard format.</li><li>
Knowledge of court procedures and understanding of basic legal terminology.</li><li>
Highly organized</li><li>

Judicial Assistant, Circuit Court

<div><div><div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>SUMMARY</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div>Drug Court is a voluntary, court supervised pre-trial intervention for non-violent offenders with a substance use disorder. The Case Manager is responsible for reporting participants of the Drug Court&rsquo;s progress to the court along with serving as a liaison between the court and outside agencies. The Drug Court Case Manager works under direct supervision of the Drug Court Manager. Work is reviewed through meetings, reports, case reviews and performance reviews.</div></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div><ul><li>Assist in the facilitation of effective case processing, including screening for program eligibility, scheduling court appearances and monitoring compliance.</li><li>
Discuss court process with litigants and provide procedural guidance.</li><li>
Coordinate efforts with other staff and outside agencies.</li><li>
Process referrals to applicable social service and community agencies.</li><li>
Attend hearings and other court proceedings.</li><li>
Provide directions to participants to ensure court orders are completed.</li><li>
Other duties assigned by the Drug Court Manager.</li></ul></div><div><i><br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science or related field <i>OR</i> two (2) years of related college-level course work (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours) <i>AND</i> minimum of six (6) months of experience working in the criminal justice system. One year experience working in the drug court system is a plus.</div><i><br>
Relevant experience and/or education may substitute for the recommended minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.</i><div><b><br>
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</b></div><div><ul><li>
Knowledge of the legal system and terminology.</li><li>
Ability to work within deadlines to complete projects and assignments.</li><li>
Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely and logically, both orally and in writing with a diverse group of people.</li><li>
Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive issues before the court.</li><li>
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, database software applications, legal electronic case management /electronic case filing system, and scanning and image creation software.</li><li>
Ability to interact in a professional, courteous manner and maintain effective working relationships with other court personnel and outside agencies, legal professionals, litigants, and the general public.</li><li>
Ability to interpret, explain and apply laws, rules, policies and procedures.</li><li><b>
Must be extremely computer literate and able to work in a paperless system.</b></li></ul></div></div><br>
