Summary:

The Analyst-in-Training prepares and analyzes environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to scientific and EPA methodology in compliance with GEL Laboratories LLC&rsquo;s (GEL) Quality Assurance programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
<ul>
<li>Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner</li>
<li>Demonstrates and supports GEL&rsquo;s core values</li>
<li>Follows written and verbal instructions</li>
<li>Prepares samples for analysis based on SOPs</li>
<li>Performs chemical testing based on SOPs</li>
<li>Prepares all documentation associated with preparation and analysis of the samples</li>
<li>Performs routine instrument maintenance as needed</li>
<li>Maintains a work area stocked with the necessary materials, organized, and clean</li>
<li>Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation and instrument specific data systems</li>
<li>Follows protocol for proper tracking and disposal of samples using set guidelines and instructions</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
Typical Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor of Science, preferably in a science discipline.

This is an entry level position, so no prior experience is required but related experience is certainly a plus.

Other Knowledge Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Demonstrated organizational skills</li>
<li>Fundamental principles, practices and techniques of chemistry are a plus</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li>
<li>Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to, WORD, EXCEL and other standard operating programs/systems</li>
<li>Attention to detail and teamwork are key</li>
</ul>

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
The physical demands outlined are representative of those that are required for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

<li>Mobility to work in a lab and office setting</li>
<li>Use of standard office and lab equipment and stamina to sit or stand for extended periods of time</li>
<li>Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects</li>
</ul>
Work is performed in a laboratory setting which is subject to chemicals, and potential fumes, gasses, noxious odors and related items typical for this environment.
