The Laundry Room

The Laundry Room is a boutique laundromat in the Seabright neighborhood of Santa Cruz. Our laundromat provides self-service laundry facilities in addition to drop-off/ full-service laundry. The Laundry Room is staffed during all open business hours to ensure we provide a clean, safe, and hospitable environment for our customers. Customer service is our top priority.Ideal Candidate:This role is responsible for customer assistance, processing drop-off laundry orders, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in The Laundry Room.This is a fast-paced, busy environment, which requires organization, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and ability to adapt and work well with others. The ideal candidate enjoys keeping busy, communicates clearly, calmly handles challenging situations/interactions, and exhibits pride in the work and space they&rsquo;re responsible for.Responsibilities will include:Customer Service: Engaging customers in a friendly and helpful manner; Supporting customers in using our Laundry Card payment system; Providing guidance and advice in using equipment and doing laundry; Answering phone calls; Transferring customers&rsquo; laundry; Addressing customer satisfaction issuesWash &amp; Fold Services: Comfortable using an order management system to enter and track customer drop-off orders; Performing wash, dry, fold services according to customer instructions (Must be comfortable handling dirty laundry with provided PPE); Providing consistent, neat, and organized finished product to our customersCleaning: Consistently wiping down inside and outside machines; Maintaining clean countertops and floors; Emptying lint traps; Emptying trash receptacles; Dusting surfaces; Should be a bit obsessive about cleaningRequirements:<ul><li>Customer service or hospitality experience (prior laundromat attendant, laundry processing, or cleaning experience a plus)</li></ul><ul><li>Must be comfortable learning and using point-of-sale system/register and LaundryCard system</li></ul><ul><li>Organized and able to multi-task effectively between cleaning, customer service, and managing multiple concurrent wash and fold orders</li></ul><ul><li>Must be comfortable working autonomously or with others (store is often double-staffed or owner assisted but occasionally goes to one staff member for portions of shift)</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to lift 30-40 lbs of laundry</li></ul><ul><li>Fluent in English (Spanish a plus)</li></ul>PAY:Starting pay is $17/hour. The position has potential to earn tips. Employees of The Laundry Room are offered free laundry for their personal laundry.SHIFTS:Multiple evening shifts are available; 430pm-9pm with additional backup coverage available.Job Type: Part-timePay: $17.00 per hourWork Location: In person
