The Metropolitan Opera

<div><div><p>The Production Department of The Metropolitan Opera is responsible for all production and technical details related to the development, creation, and performance of the opera repertory, the coordination of presentations and special events, the operation and maintenance of, as well as improvements to the Metropolitan Opera stage, shops, and warehouses. The Administrative Associate &ndash; Electric is an essential part of this process, working at the direction of the Production Finance Manager and Head Electrician to support the administration of the Electric Department payroll and administrative needs. The Electric Department of the Metropolitan Opera&rsquo;s IATSE Local One stage crew is responsible for the execution of the lighting, sound, video, and automation elements of Met productions, presentations, and special events.</p>

<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Primary Responsibilities</b></h3><div>
<ul><li><b>PAYROLL</b>:</li>
</ul><ul><li>Collect and review timesheets for the electric stage crew and shop employees, and timely and accurately enter payroll data into the Met&rsquo;s proprietary payroll system.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain knowledge of:</li>
</ul><ul><li>IATSE Local 1 collective bargaining agreements and work rules that affect pay.</li>
<li>The Met&rsquo;s payroll systems and structure of pay codes to accurately assign the correct activity and pay codes.</li>
<li>Weekly operations schedules and crew assignments to understand the weekly work of the Electric Department and the correct corresponding pay codes for the work.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Provide research, data gathering, and analysis for payroll-related questions</li>
<li>Answer department staff questions about paychecks and timesheets, and make corrections as needed.</li>
</ul><ul><li><b>PURCHASING</b>:</li>
</ul><ul><li>Process and track all department purchase orders and accounts payable submissions</li>
<li>Maintain purchasing files and records</li>
<li>Interface with Production Finance Manager to track expenses and maintain vendor relations on behalf of the department.</li>
<li>Track and manage deliveries for the Electric Department with outside vendors and internal staff, and coordinate loading dock deliveries and distribution of materials.</li>
</ul><ul><li><b>OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES</b>:</li>
</ul><ul><li>Perform administrative duties including answering office telephone, taking messages, keeping attendance records, ordering office supplies.</li>
<li>Initiate and track Electric Department new-hire and job-change paperwork in coordination with HR</li>
<li>Other assignments as needed.</li>
</ul></div><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Skills and Qualifications</b></h3><div>
<ul><li>BA degree or equivalent.</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Strong mathematical skills and attention to numerical detail.</li>
<li>Experience in data entry or bookkeeping. Some Accounts Payable experience preferred.</li>
<li>Experience managing timesheets and entering payroll data preferred</li>
<li>Ability to acquire new computer skills and master new data systems quickly. Experience with Excel, Word, and Adobe Pro preferred.
</li><li>Some understanding/familiarity with technical theatre preferred.</li>

Administrative Associate – Electric

<div><div>The Social Media Assistant is an organized, analytical and creative individual who plays a key role in the management and creation of organic social media content for the Metropolitan Opera. This role works closely with the wider Marketing, Editorial, Graphics, and Video teams, and is under the supervision of the Director of Digital Marketing. This position will administer the Met&rsquo;s organic social media channels and serve as general support for the Marketing team, collaborating with staff from across the organization in order to address key sales, communication and business needs.</div>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Primary Responsibilities</b></h3><div>
<ul><li>Under the direction of the Director of Digital Marketing, manage the Met&rsquo;s social media channels to support the overall marketing strategy and sales needs. This includes the scheduling and monitoring of daily social media posts across all channels as well as writing posts when needed.</li>
<li>Maintain the Met&rsquo;s ongoing social media calendar, working to incorporate content to support sales needs while driving engagement and audience growth. Serve as a resource and gatekeeper to other departments seeking to add content to the social schedule.</li>
<li>Community engagement and monitoring: foster engagement by responding to comments when necessary, reposting/sharing fan and artist content, directing feedback to appropriate internal teams, and reporting content that is against community guidelines.</li>
<li>Support the Director of Digital Marketing, Content Producer, and colleagues across Marketing and Editorial to coordinate social media opportunities, including opening nights, behind the scenes social, offsite outreach events etc. Edit and post content in real time as needed.</li>
<li>Work with the Director of Digital Marketing to identify opportunities to insert the Met into relevant social conversations through reactive content.</li>
<li>Contribute to reporting, providing weekly reviews to the internal team and creating ad-hoc reports for the senior team as requested.</li>
<li>Assist with partnership promotional opportunities.</li>
<li>Assist with the management of paid social campaigns as needed</li>
<li>Manage content playlists for Front of House digital screens including creation and scheduling of content</li>
<li>Provide Live in HD partners with approved content for social media and email promotion</li>
<li>At the direction of the Live in HD Marketing and Distribution Associate, Project manage the delivery of Live in HD trailers and video content for social media, web, and cinema placements</li>
<li>Support other members of the marketing and media teams as necessary.</li>
</ul></div><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Skills and Qualifications</b></h3><div>
<ul><li>A bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent</li>
<li>Minimum of 1 years professional experience in social media marketing or content development, preferably within a large organization</li>
<li>Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management</li>
<li>Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills</li>
<li>A creative mind, able to think outside of the box while still working within organizational structure</li>
<li>Strong copywriting and editing skills</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li>
<li>Supremely detail oriented and able to prioritize in high-pressure environment</li>
<li>Experience using social media scheduling and analytics software such as Sprout Social</li>
<li>Proficient in Microsoft Office</li>
<li>Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite an advantage</li>
<li>Knowledge of opera and/or passion for the arts required</li>
