<div><div><b>Job Summary:</b></div><div>
The New School is seeking a long-term substitute to teach Chemistry in the Upper School during the Spring Semester (starting in January 2026) of the 2025-26 school year.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Duties/Responsibilities:</b></div><ul><li><div>
Teach two sections of Chemistry and one section of AP Chemistry</div></li><li><div>
Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned</div></li><li><div>
Follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, and refine or provide additional planning, as needed</div></li><li><div>
Provide brief reports in writing on class activities at regular intervals for the teacher</div></li><li><div>
Encourage, monitor, and promote student progress</div></li><li><div>
Conduct assessments to monitor student progress; maintain records of grades; collaborate with the teacher or division head to provide quarter and semester grades and reports, as needed</div></li><li><div>
Maintain student confidentiality</div></li><li><div>
Assume the responsibility for overseeing student behavior in the classroom, during lunch and activity periods, and in all school settings</div></li><li><div>
Interact in a professional manner with colleagues, students, and parents</div></li><li><div>
Work cooperatively with all school personnel</div></li><li><div>
Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates</div></li><li><div>
Other duties as assigned</div></li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
Required Skills/Abilities:</b></div><ul><li><div>
Excellent verbal and written communication skills</div></li><li><div>
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail</div></li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
Education and Experience:</b></div><ul><li><div>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required, Master&rsquo;s degree a plus</div></li><li><div>
One-year classroom experience in Chemistry or a related field</div></li><li><div>
A proven commitment to the development of young people as individual learners</div></li><li><div>
A track record of collaboration with colleagues</div></li><li><div>
CPR certification preferred</div></li></ul></div>
