The BookOps Logistics Department is primarily responsible for receiving, processing, sorting, and the delivery of all new and circulating materials for 150 branches across 4 boroughs which comprise the BookOps member libraries. The workload volume for the Logistics Department is extremely high. In FY-18, nearly one million new materials were received and processed and over 8 million circulating items were sorted and delivered. These materials are selected to meet the needs of the communities of New York. This service level supports countless projects aligned with reading, learning, and Innovation within the member libraries.</div><div></div><div><br>
This Library Page serves 3 different departments within BookOps Logistics Operations: Receiving and Processing, Sorting, and Distribution. The main functions of this role are to ensure the timely delivery of library materials to the BookOps member libraries. The major steps that are involved in this process are to receive, transport, process, shelve, sort and deliver library materials in an accurate and timely manner. NYPL is seeking a Library Attendant Guard to maintain an environment that is safe and comfortable for our Library users and employees. The Library Attendant Guard is the first line of security at NYPL buildings. They will respond to emergencies, perform general security duties, and document unusual incidents. The Library Attendant Guard must work as a member of the Security team, act professionally and demonstrate courtesy and respect to all.<br>

The Stephen A. Schwarzman Building is part of The New York Public Library, which consists of four major research libraries and 88 branch libraries located in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. Often referred to as the &quot;main branch,&quot; the Beaux-Arts landmark building on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street houses outstanding research collections in the humanities and social sciences as well as a circulating children&rsquo;s collection.</div><div>

NYPL is seeking a Library Attendant Guard to maintain an environment that is safe and comfortable for our Library users and employees. The Library Attendant Guard is the first line of security at NYPL buildings. They will respond to emergencies, perform general security duties, and document unusual incidents. The Library Attendant Guard must work as a member of the Security team, act professionally and demonstrate courtesy and respect to all.<br>

</div><div><b>Responsibilities</b><br>
Under the general supervision of an Assistant Security Supervisor, the Library Attendant Guard:</div><ul>
<li>Enforces the Library&rsquo;s rules of conduct for all patrons and visitors.</li>
<li>Periodically tours building and grounds, examining doors and windows to determine whether they are secure and not tampered with</li>
<li>Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, and call for assistance from security office or police, according to the circumstances</li>
<li>Ensures that Library users, staff and other outside contractors adhere to the rules of security to prevent theft, fire, damage, and personal injury</li>
<li>Provide security presence at special events, including private screenings, parties, etc.</li>
<li>Write comprehensive reports of incidents to assist with investigations and documentation of incidents</li>
<li>Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctions in heating, plumbing, electrical or other parts of the buildings mechanical systems to facilities services</li>
<li>Utilize Security Technology as part of the security strategy</li>
