The People embraces diversity and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.About the Role: The Bookkeeper handles traditional bookkeeping responsibilities for the organization including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, financial reporting, and audits.The People is a fully virtual team, so the Bookkeeper needs to be a driven self-starter, able to work successfully with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and familiarity and experience with G-Suite (Google Workspace), and QuickBooks.The People is a nonpartisan organization, and as such is seeking candidates who are able to work directly and respectfully with people from all points of the political spectrum without bias.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Payroll</li><li>Payment processing</li><li>Financial reporting</li><li>Budgeting</li><li>Cash Flow Projections</li><li>Deposits</li><li>Raise adjustments</li><li>Annual workers comp audit</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>Experience:At least one year prior bookkeeping experience required, 3+ years desired.Working Schedule:Contract with a flexible schedule (working hours are based in the Eastern Time Zone) and response time within 24 hours Mon-Fri / 48 hours weekend.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each essential duty satisfactorily.
