 In this role you will write news briefs and perform other clerical functions to keep the newsroom functioning smoothly. This position will work with our Upstate newsrooms in Greenville and Spartanburg. Office location would be in Spartanburg.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Write news briefs and articles assigned by editors
 </li>
 <li>
 Take photographs at local events, when needed
 </li>
 <li>
 Create social media content, including videos, galleries, etc.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist in audience team duties to schedule social media posts, send push notifications, schedule newsletters and more.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform other duties as assigned by editors
 
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Bachelor's degree or appropriate professional experience
 </li>
 <li>
 Must be able to deal courteously with public at all times
 </li>
 <li>
 Basic understanding of the principles of journalism and operation of the newspaper
 </li>
 <li>
 Must be able to work flexible hours
 
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Excellent command of grammar/spelling and a meticulous approach to writing Effectively use computer technology
 </li>
 <li>
 Able to complete multiple tasks accurately within deadlines
 </li>
 <li>
 Handle jobs as they arise in the newsroom that may be outside the scope of daily duties
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent keyboard skills
 
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Physical Requirements:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Able to sit for long periods of time
 </li>
 <li>
 Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds&mdash;per safety policy.
 
 </li>
