Job Summary 

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Health Science Editor to refine and elevate research-based content for DrRuscio.com. 

In this role, you&rsquo;ll focus primarily on editing&mdash;shaping drafts into polished, engaging, and scientifically accurate pieces that reflect our evidence-based approach and brand voice. You&rsquo;ll also support content development by gathering and organizing relevant studies to inform article briefs. 

This position requires sharp editorial judgment, strong health-science literacy, and the ability to make complex topics understandable, precise, and actionable. You&rsquo;ll collaborate with the Content Manager, other editors, and scientific reviewers to ensure every article meets our standards for clarity, accuracy, and readability. 

Key Responsibilities 

Editorial
<ul>
<li>Edit long-form health content for clarity, accuracy, structure, and tone.</li>
<li>Ensure all writing aligns with the brand voice, readability standards, and current clinical evidence.</li>
<li>Strengthen story flow, reader engagement, and headline clarity.</li>
<li>Review clinician or writer drafts to refine narrative structure and ensure scientific integrity.</li>
<li>Fact-check and verify research claims, citations, and data as needed.</li>
</ul>
Research Support
<ul>
<li>Collect, evaluate, and synthesize research from peer-reviewed journals, credible health sources, and our internal clinician-organized database.</li>
<li>Summarize findings into organized, easy-to-reference research briefs aligned with provided outlines.</li>
<li>Refine complex research into structured, narrative-driven content suitable for a lay audience.</li>
</ul>
Collaboration &amp; Optimization
<ul>
<li>Partner with the Content Manager and Scientific Reviewers to maintain efficient editorial workflows.</li>
<li>Provide clear, constructive feedback to writers and contribute to content planning discussions.</li>
<li>Learn and apply SEO best practices over time&mdash;no prior SEO experience required, but curiosity and willingness to develop this skill are preferred.</li> 
</ul>

<li>Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a remote team environment.</li>
<li>Consistent attention to accuracy, nuance, and evidence quality.</li> 
</ul>
Qualifications &amp; Experience 
<ul>
<li>Proven experience editing written content for accuracy, clarity, and brand voice (preferably in health or science communication)</li>
<li>Proven ability to translate complex health topics into accurate, engaging, plain-language content</li>
<li>Background in health sciences, nutrition, integrative or functional medicine, or a related field</li>
<li>Familiarity with Google Drive and project management tools like Asana</li>
<li>Knowledge of the Ruscio Institute&rsquo;s approach to evidence-based functional medicine is a plus</li> 
</ul>
Key Measures of Success 

 By the end of the first month, the Health Science Editor should:
<ul>
<li>Demonstrate 90% alignment with the Ruscio Institute&rsquo;s editorial standards and brand voice on reviewed edits.</li>
<li>Independently edit 4&ndash;5 article drafts with high accuracy, clarity, and correct evidence interpretation.</li>
<li>Accurately verify and cite 100% of references using Lean Library and the assigned citation tool.</li>
<li>Confidently use Asana, Google Workspace, and all editorial tools with 1 workflow error or missed deadline.</li>
<li>Maintain an average editorial turnaround time of 3 business days per draft.</li> 
</ul>
Hours &amp; Compensation
<ul>
<li>$30-$45/hour, commensurate with experience.</li>
<li>Part-time, 15-25 hours per week, consistently.</li>
<li>Independent contractor.</li>
<li>Flexible hours.</li> 
</ul>
