Staff AccountantThis position is part of the technical production team and is responsible for overseeing the completion of timely, accurate and accounting work products and specialty tax services for our clientele. The individual for this position must be detail oriented and have a high acumen for accounting, business, and customer service. This position plays an integral role in the accounting section of the technical department by ensuring client&rsquo;s financial statements, payroll, sales tax, property tax, entity formations and various other tax forms are completed on time, accurately and in compliance generally accepted accounting principles as well as the tax code. The individual who holds this position must be a resourceful leader, team player and able to research and jump-start a project. This individual must have the ability to lead, coach and train others as well as be a problem solver. The job duties are to be performed in alignment with the company's vision, financial objectives, and core values, maintaining customer service satisfaction at all service levels. This position requires knowledge of QuickBooks, UltraTax software, ADP, Gusto, and Microsoft Office.Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to Tax and Accounting Manager and Director of Operations.Salary: ExemptResponsibilitiesBookkeeping/Financial Reporting:&middot; Prepare monthly financial statements for clients according to generally accepted accounting principles.&middot; Acquire client&rsquo;s source documents (bank statements, credit card statements, PayPal and/or accounts as needed)&middot; Reconcile client&rsquo;s monthly bank statement ensuring to account for all transactions.&middot; Properly set up client&rsquo;s chart of accounts in the case of a new company/business using QBO.&middot; Review/analyze client&rsquo;s books and records to determine discrepancies.&middot; Journalize book to tax adjustments as needed.&middot; Generate monthly variance analysis.&middot; Timely delivery financial package to include P&amp;L, BL, GL, and various other reports.Client Advisory:&middot; Meet with clients via Zoom Video, Phone, or in person to best determine their needs.&middot; Provide clients with appropriate tax and accounting compliance requirements.&middot; Be able to answer general business questions regarding corporate governance.&middot; Understand basic business acumen as it pertains to KPI&rsquo;s.&middot; Advise clients on Filing with SOI, EDD, Worker&rsquo;s Compensation and Carrying Insurance&middot; Be able to explain clients&rsquo; financials in layman&rsquo;s terms and speak to their equity and cash positions.Payroll Preparation:&middot; Prepare client&rsquo;s weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly or annual employee or officers&rsquo; payroll manually or by using appropriate payroll software.&middot; Pay client&rsquo;s payroll tax liabilities.&middot; Prepare quarterly payroll tax returns and timely file with reporting agencies.&middot; Set up a new payroll for new clients ensuring to gather all appropriate employee/employer documentation.&middot; Prepare and review forms 941&rsquo;s and various other payroll tax returns.&middot; Properly journalize client&rsquo;s payroll wages ensuring to separate employer payroll taxes.&middot; Respond to agency inquiries.Sales Tax Returns&middot; Gather client&rsquo;s taxable sales and non-taxable sales.&middot; Generate sales tax return and prepayments on behalf of client.&middot; Pay client&rsquo;s sales tax online or via check as requested by the client.&middot; Generate returns on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis as needed.&middot; Handle sales tax audits and inquiries from various agencies&middot; Respond to agency inquiries.Entity Set Ups:&middot; Sept up client entities with appropriate Secretary of state&middot; Establish by laws.&middot; Secure EIN numbers and state registration numbers&middot; File articles of incorporation or organization.&middot; Respond to agency inquiries.Staff Training and Supervision:&middot; Assign work to team and ensure balance of workload for team.&middot; Review work and make corrections.&middot; Ensure accurate and on-time delivery of projects.&middot; Train staff on the proper process and GAAP.&middot; Correct staff and provide KPI&rsquo;s.&middot; Follow up and monitor work completion ensuring work is completed timely.&middot; Onboard new staff and provide 30, 60, 90-day reviews.&middot; Recommend staff for promotion, demotion, or termination.&middot; Handle staff technical inquiries and provide guidance.Tax Preparation/Tax Planning:&middot; Prepare accurate federal, state, and multi-state income tax returns.&middot; Prepare client workpapers.&middot; Follow-up on data requests.&middot; Back up/organize client data to organizers.&middot; Enter client data in UltraTax.&middot; Interview clients to gather tax information.&middot; Support senior staff.Other Duties As Assigned:&middot; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting&middot; Intermediate experience with QuickBooks desktop or QBOKey Performance Indicators:&middot; Timely and accurate delivery Monthly Financial Statements for all Clients&middot;
