The Section of Transplantation is built on a strong history of surgical excellence, including the first-ever animal organ transplant in 1904. Over the years, the section has gone on to achieve many more 'firsts,' including the first successful living donor liver transplant and the first heart-liver-kidney transplant in the world. Today, UChicago Medicine is home to one of the busiest organ transplant centers in the nation and offers more transplant options than any other program in Illinois.<br>

What our surgeons can achieve in the operating room would not be possible without the ongoing work that is done in our laboratories, and this is especially true in the Section of Transplantation. Our researchers are well known for their basic science research in transplantation tolerance and clinical trial work around islet cell transplantation for diabetes.<div><br>
Job Summary</div>
Under moderate direction from the Islet Processing Lab Director, executes preparation for islet isolation and transplantation and participates in the islet isolation procedures and subsequent processing for clinical islet transplantation.<div></div><div>
Responsibilities</div><ul><li><div>
Manages reagent preparation for the human pancreatic islet isolation.</div></li><li><div>
Actively participates in human islet isolation process.</div></li><li><div>
Prepares supplies in the cGMP (current Good Manufacture Practice) facility and routinely checks inventory.</div></li><li><div>
Performs quality control and release criteria tests of final islet product in compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), lab policies, and applicable regulations.</div></li><li><div>

Job Summary</div>
The Senior Director of Policy and Communications is a key member of the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics (BFI) leadership team and is responsible for both internal and external communications. In coordination with BFI leadership and with the support of a highly-talented communications and event staff, the Senior Director leads the institute&rsquo;s efforts to communicate Chicago Economics research insights to key external stakeholders, including media and policymakers. The Senior Director is also responsible for communicating BFI programming, resources, and other news with the University of Chicago academic community, alumni, and University leadership. The Senior Director will help to advance the Becker Friedman Institute's national and global visibility, reputation, and prestige by leading communications for external audiences in support of the Institute's strategic initiatives and priorities.<br>

Works as part of the BFI leadership team on overall strategy, goals, and vision for the institute.</li><li>
With the support of BFI&rsquo;s Senior Economic Writer, works with UChicago scholars to create policy-relevant and accessible summary documents to accompany research, such as policy briefs, op-eds, blogs, testimony, speeches, video clips and podcasts, etc. This involves developing relationships and working closely with University of Chicago economists to understand their research and to identify the most effective and appropriate ways to communicate their research.</li><li>
Leads strategic outreach to media regarding BFI research and, as appropriate, other UChicago economics research. This includes the development and cultivation of media relationships, particularly among national economic reporters, as well as maintaining and growing BFI&rsquo;s working paper series. Also serves as primary liaison to communications staff throughout UChicago to coordinate BFI&rsquo;s work with other relevant offices.</li><li>
In coordination with BFI leadership and external advisers, creates and builds opportunities for BFI to routinely engage with US and global economic policymakers and policy-relevant institutions. This will include, but not be limited to direct policy engagement that includes Capitol Hill and Administration visits, round-tables with media outlets, Capitol Hill briefings and/or other public events; NGOs; the private sector; and new opportunities for internships in economic policy for UChicago students.</li><li>

Job Summary</div>
The Clinical Research Coordinator 2 (CRC2) is a specialized researcher working with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-Investigator(s) and other study personnel. Under limited direction of departmental leadership, the CRC2 supports and provides guidance on the administration of the compliance, financial and other related aspects of the clinical study.<div></div><div>
Responsibilities</div><div>
Research Conduct/Study Management:</div><ul><li><div>
Manages multiple moderately complex clinical trials that may include national level and multi-institutional pharmaceutical.</div></li><li><div>
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment and screening of study subjects, obtaining informed consent, enrollment of subject in research study, subject follow-up, collecting and analyzing research data, completion of the case report form (CRF), adverse event reports and ensuring protocol adherence.</div></li><li><div>

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, provides efficient and complete data collection, processing, analysis and reporting; assures source documentation and data abstraction and entry are being done at the protocol specified time-points; ensures data accuracy and integrity by working closely with internal monitors and/or auditors to promptly resolve any data quality concerns or outstanding queries; and, facilitates the exchange of data across projects and organizations.</div></li><li><div>
Protects patient and data confidentiality by ensuring security of research data and protected health information (PHI) and compliance with federal regulations and sponsor protocols.</div></li><li><div>
