</b></h2>The Medical Lab Scientist provides comprehensive laboratory testing for patients. The position consists of ensuring patients' laboratory results are accurate, timely and with quality.
<p></p><b>Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
</b><ul><li>Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results in a timely manner according to laboratory policy.
</li><li>Calibrates, maintains, operates and troubleshoots instrumentation issues and completes appropriate documentation.
</li><li>Completes continuing education and submits appropriate documentation where applicable.
</li><li>Follows regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
</li><li>Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees, residents, patients and other health care providers as applicable.
</li><li>Maintains an adequate inventory of all supplies. Accurately prepares, labels and stores reagents, standards, controls and specimens for analysis.
</li><li>Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
</li><li>Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable.
</li><li>Reviews and correlates results of laboratory tests to each other and with the patient's condition, recognizing abnormal results and critical/alert values. Verifies accuracy of results and initiates corrective action when indicated.
</li><li>The employee may be required to float to other locations throughout the organization.
</li><li>Performs product preparations in compliance with FDA, cGMP, AABB standards and blood bank department procedures, if applicable.
</li><li>Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary to perform job duties safely and minimize risk.
</li><li>Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

<b>Required Education and Experience
</b><ul><li>Bachelor of Science Biological, Physical, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology from an accredited institution
</li><li>High School Graduate
</li></ul><br>
<b>Required Licensure and Certification
</b><ul><li>Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP) AMT or equivalent or eligible (must be completed within 6 months of hire) within 180 Days
</li></ul><br>
<b>Knowledge Requirements
</b><ul><li>Meets the CLIA requirements for high complexity testing.

</b></h2>The Clinical Nurse II provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients. Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population. Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care. Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.

</li><li>Associate Degree Nursing For ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017, must complete BSN degree by the fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA
