This is a contingent float position.JOB DUTIES:The Pharmacy Technician performs technical and clerical support functions to assist Pharmacist. This includes packaging and labeling doses and documenting prescription on patient profile; receiving written prescriptions and containers from patients for processing; answers incoming calls; transcribing information and referring calls to pharmacist.Additionally:<ul><li>Checks patient insurance eligibility status and determines the level of prescription benefit coverage</li><li>Enters patient demographic, medical history and required pharmacy insurance information into computer patient profile</li><li>Maintains and monitors drug inventory in dispensing areas and reports status of low reserve stocks in a timely manner</li><li>Assists with inventory reviews and purchasing functions and responsible for the stocking of pharmacy inventory</li><li>Prepares patient prescriptions; set up drugs, labels, containers, etc. under direct supervision of the pharmacist</li><li>Responsible for processing pharmacy drug claims, communicating all drug-to-drug interactions and insurance issues to pharmacist immediately as well as processing prescriptions according to FQHC guidelines that relates to 3408 and retail stores</li><li>Prepares drug stock orders to for distribution to other The Wellness Plan Medical Centers (TWPMC) Pharmacies under supervision of the pharmacist</li><li>Prepares drug stock orders for clinic areas upon request under the supervision of the pharmacist</li><li>Adhere to corporate and departmental policies, practices and procedures</li><li>Participate in and supports performance management process</li><li>Support a healthy and safe work environment for all employees, taking steps to ensure that employees are aware of and follow safe working laws, regulations and practices</li><li>Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities at the department and corporate level</li><li>Support an environment that fosters diversity and recognizes the contributions of all individuals</li><li>Ensures that TWPMC is in compliance with privacy and security regulatory requirements of the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)</li><li>Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned</li></ul>MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:Formal education required: High school graduate with Pharmacy Technician License and 2-years&rsquo; experience as a Pharmacy Technician.<ul><li>Knowledge of computer-based pharmacy systems</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills</li><li>Good judgment and conceptual skills</li><li>Good organizational skills</li><li>Ability to prioritize and multi-task</li><li>Available to work flexible hours, if required</li></ul>Desirable: Completion of pharmacy technician program and experience in a retail environmentComputer Skills: Word, Outlook, Excel and web navigation skillsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
