Recognition of the QAI name and logo have grown significantly over the past few years resulting in significant expansion of the business.We are looking for a Sr. Welder / Technician to join our Building Products team in Medley, FL. Our ideal candidate is someone who is good with their hands, can handle power tools, is reliable and/or has had prior experience in the construction industry.DUTIES: The successful candidate will perform, but not limited to, the following duties:Senior Welder:<ul><li>Read blueprints/drawings and plan layouts and procedures</li><li>Take and read measurements</li><li>Always follow specifications and instructions for maximum efficiency</li><li>Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment</li><li>Determine the appropriate welding equipment or machinery to be used</li><li>Set up components for welding</li><li>Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces</li><li>Repair machinery or report damages on machines and equipment</li><li>Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws</li><li>Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety</li><li>Work under strict timelines</li><li>Able to lead a small team</li></ul>Technician:<ul><li>Building of test fixtures and assemblies</li><li>Dismantling test chambers and uninstalling products</li><li>Execution of provided work instructions</li><li>Assisting Senior technicians as assigned</li><li>Clean up, organization of inventory</li><li>Written and verbal reports to clients and management</li><li>Someone willing/able/interested in learning and growing from within the organization</li><li>Other duties as assigned by the manager or its designee</li></ul>QUALIFICATION: The successful candidate will have:<ul><li>Microsoft Office (Excel and Word required, other programs an asset)</li><li>Safe working practice with tools associated with construction</li><li>or similar role in a construction setting</li><li>3+ years of experience using a variety of welding equipment, machinery and procedures.</li><li>3+ years of experience in using electrical or manual tools</li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings</li><li>Good knowledge of and adherence with safety standards</li><li>Attention to detail</li><li>Critical thinker and problem-solving skills</li><li>Team player</li><li>Good time-management skills</li><li>Great interpersonal and communication skills</li><li>Forklift operator, counterbalance and high reach</li><li>Scissor lift operator</li></ul>Key Technical Competence:<ul><li>Accepts instruction and follows it for testing outside of their general scope of knowledge and experience.</li><li>Able to grasp general concepts in a field of testing and apply it to specific test methods.</li><li>Able to perform simple testing and as knowledge grows in a specific field of testing graduates to more complex testing methods.</li><li>Seeks assistance and knowledge from more senior personnel when a specific requirement is outside of their general scope of knowledge.</li><li>Good working knowledge of the test methods in their specific discipline.</li><li>Able to multi-task with some degree of efficiency and accuracy.</li><li>Maintains a sense of ownership and responsibility for projects assigned to them.</li></ul>Additional Assets include:<ul><li>Forklift experience or certification</li><li>Certified Welding and Fabrication</li><li>Previous experience in construction industry</li><li>OHSA 10</li></ul>Join our Team!
