<div>THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated Lead Engineer to support marine engineering efforts for the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and commercial shipbuilding efforts in Arlington, VA. An ideal candidate will have prior experience leading teams working with Government or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations. 
 
Typical Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers and designers in creating ship installation drawings, 3d models, calculations, and engineering change artifacts.</li><li>
Design, analyze, and integrate systems for ships and boats, including C5ISR, Combat Systems, propulsion, piping, HVAC, and machinery arrangements.</li><li>
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.</li><li>
Collaborate with naval architects, structural engineers, electronics engineers, and production teams to ensure integration of systems.</li><li>
Perform marine engineering calculations related to power, structure, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and/or machinery performance.</li><li>
Support installation, testing, and commissioning of systems onboard vessels.</li><li>
Conduct failure analysis, troubleshooting, and recommend design improvements.</li><li>
Participate in design reviews, supplier evaluations, and quality assurance processes.</li></ul> 

Location: Primarily onsite (2-3 days/week) at THOR office in Arlington (Shirlington), VA. 
 
Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision. 
 
Anticipated Travel: This position is anticipated to require around 10% travel. 
 
Eligibility for a SECRET Security Clearance is Required: This position requires eligibility for a Secret security clearance, to be obtained after hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. 
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.</li><li>
At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in naval architecture.</li><li>
At least three (3) years of Project Management experience.</li><li>
Experience with computer applications relating to shipboard systems.</li><li>
Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.</li><li>
Experience with 3D CAD programs: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Rhino, or equivalent.</li><li>
Experience with Project Management software such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, or Primavera.</li><li>
Experience managing project sites and task lists in Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.</li><li>
Proficient with common productivity software.</li><li>
Strong communications skills.</li></ul> 

Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<ul><li>
Ideal experience will have been obtained in U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs.</li><li>
Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs or Naval Special Warfare Boats.</li><li>
Previous experience working with USCG Acquisitions, NAVSEA, SOCOM, or NIWC Atlantic.</li></ul>
