Thornton Brothers is a local, thriving, and stable company, looking for a summer intern in our Accounts Receivable Department! This is a part-time internship from May 11th - July 17th and could turn into a permanent part time opportunity for the fall. College students in need of fulfilling their internship requirements for your accounting degree, who have a strong work ethic and the willingness to learn are encouraged to apply! Some flexibility in start date can be arranged. Hours are M-Th 1:00pm-5:00pm and Fri 12:00pm-3:00pm. Will also accept applications for those looking for a temporary summer opportunity!Responsibilities include:<ul><li>Processing accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures</li><li>Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables data</li><li>Prepare bills, invoices and bank deposits</li><li>Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted</li><li>Verify discrepancies and resolve clients&rsquo; billing issues</li><li>Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients</li></ul>Candidate must have strong Excel and data entry skills, be able to multitask, analyze problems, problem solve, and prevent mistakes with a willingness to learn best practices.Person must fit our core values and work well in a team!Dutie(s):<ul><li>Reconciling the accounts receivable ledger</li><li>Responding to customer questions and resolving issues</li><li>Clerical functions such as invoice processing, monthly statements, etc.</li><li>Treasury functions such as bank deposits, manual wire payments, and credit card transactions</li><li>Posting payments to the general ledger and conducting daily cash reconciliation</li><li>Collecting customer payments in accordance with payment due dates</li><li>Making collection calls on outstanding accounts</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>Benefit Conditions:<ul><li>Paid Holidays for all employees!</li></ul>Hours per week:<ul><li>19-20</li></ul>Typical end time:<ul><li>5PM</li></ul>Typical start time:<ul><li>1PM</li></ul>This Job Is:<ul><li>A good fit for applicants with gaps in their resume, or who have been out of the workforce for the past 6 months or more</li><li>A job for which all ages, including older job seekers, are encouraged to apply</li><li>Open to applicants who do not have a college diploma</li></ul>Work Remotely<ul><li>No</li></ul>This Job Is Ideal for Someone Who Is:<ul><li>Dependable -- more reliable than spontaneous</li><li>People-oriented -- enjoys interacting with people and working on group projects</li><li>Adaptable/flexible -- enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction</li><li>Detail-oriented -- would rather focus on the details of work than the bigger picture</li><li>Achievement-oriented -- enjoys taking on challenges, even if they might fail</li><li>Autonomous/Independent -- enjoys working with little direction</li><li>Innovative -- prefers working in unconventional ways or on tasks that require creativity</li><li>High stress tolerance -- thrives in a high-pressure environment</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timePay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hourWork Location: In person
