<div>This Software Engineer will lead the development and maintenance of backend systems for the Brooklyn Investment team's equities portfolio management platform, which manages billions of dollars in client assets. The platform connects strategy generation, portfolio rebalancing, trade execution, and advisor-facing interfaces. The engineer in this role will build and maintain full stack services that integrate with multiple data sources, external APIs, and internal microservices, and will contribute to the design and implementation of distributed system components. The role requires ensuring system reliability, performance, and data integrity across the platform while collaborating with internal and client-side engineering teams and business stakeholders to deliver features that support business operations.
The Software Engineer requires strong proficiency in Python, experience designing and implementing distributed systems, and a solid understanding of API integration patterns and microservices architecture. The candidate must also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients and their engineering teams directly. 
Key Responsibilities and Duties<ul><li>
Lead the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of FastAPI-based backend services powering core platform capabilities including portfolio rebalancing, trade management, and advisor workflows</li><li>
Integrate with multiple data stores such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB/DocumentDB and build and optimize data pipelines connecting custodial data, security master databases, and real-time market data feeds</li><li>
Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure using CDK, encompassing ECS Fargate deployments and serverless components</li><li>
Collaborate with internal and client-side frontend engineers and business stakeholders to design and implement RESTful APIs consumed by the Vue/Nuxt advisor portal, with opportunities to contribute frontend code as needed</li><li>
Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions using Datadog APM</li><li>
Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability and resilience across the platform</li></ul>

Base Pay Range: $143,500/yr - $195,000/yr

This is a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Registered role that is primarily responsible for taking inbound calls, providing individual participants with options for retirement plans, after-tax investments, insurance products, payment flexibility, investment choices and overall retirement, and financial education.

Key Responsibilities and Duties</div><ul><li>
Establishes rapport quickly with participants, setting them at ease and providing direction regarding financial transactions and long-term asset planning</li><li>
Understands participant needs and outlines appropriate solutions leveraging TIAA products and services, explaining viable options using clear and simple explanations.</li><li>
Answers participant questions by communicating financial plan details and providing further explanation when necessary.</li><li>
Executes transactions and service requests on behalf of participant.</li><li>
Maintains records of all participant interactions, including inquiries, complaints, and actions taken, as well as banking service transactions performed.</li><li>
Refers participant to business partners when appropriate to help participant achieved their desired outcome.</li></ul>

TIAA offers competitive compensation for this role by continually assessing market data and reflecting that in our pay ranges. Financial Consultants are paid at a base pay rate determined by your relevant experience and market data associated with the position and hiring location. Our total compensation package includes an hourly rate plus an annual bonus with a target of 15% of your base pay and eligible earnings. The potential total compensation range for this position based on the target bonus rate is between $47,000 and $66,700</li></ul>
