 A Brief Overview
 
 
 
 The Outpatient Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice. The Outpatient Nurse is accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in an outpatient setting that performs specialized procedures.
 
 
 
 What You Will Do
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Accompany patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams, performing and documenting vital signs, assisting with office procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician&rsquo;s authorization, and drawing blood.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide patient education with regards to office policies, medications, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets.
 </li>
 <li>
 Retrieval of lab and x-ray reports, calling in prescriptions, telephone triage, obtaining referrals and authorizations, completing medical forms.
 </li>
 <li>
 Order medical and office supplies, stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
 </li>

 Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation and other front office duties as assigned.
 </li>
 <li>
 Coordination of pre-op workup including patient education.
 </li>
 <li>
 Contact patients prior to procedure to review pre-op checklist and documenting communications.

 Draw up medications.
 </li>

 Assist with patient preparation including patient assessment / monitoring before, during, and after an outpatient procedure.

A Brief Overview 
The purpose of this position is to register all patients needing services and handle all first call resolutions for the departments assigned. The role is responsible for obtaining accurate and complete demographic, financial, and medical information. The employee will transfer calls as appropriate, and/or make appointments as necessary. For procedures, the employee may pre-register the patient, verifying insurance, etc. In addition, the employee may assist with making referrals. The person performing this role anticipates and acts on the needs of our customers to enhance their patient experience. Responsible for pre-registering and scheduling moderately complex procedures and coordinating multiple resources for patient services. May also perform duties for prior authorization, referrals (incoming/outgoing), good faith estimates, and/or payment collections.
 
 
What you will do<ul><li>
Engage patients throughout the registration process to create a welcoming and positive patient experience. Consistently displays good customer service behaviors to all patients and visitors to promote positive patient experiences. Assist patients to their destination as needed and manage patient visitor flow according to hospital policy and safety guidelines.</li>
<li>Obtains and accurately enters required information for registration into the electronic health system. Follow prescribed procedures for positive identification and medical record number assignment, so no duplication or wrong patient registrations occur. Reviews demographic and insurance information for completeness, and follows through with correcting any deficiencies, so collection efforts are not delayed due to insufficient or incorrect information.</li>
<li>Ensures all appropriate signatures are obtained and forms completed including and not limited to the following: Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire, Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN waiver), HIPAA Privacy Notice, AOB (Assignment of Benefits), Medicare Important Messages etc. Provides information and/or handouts and answers questions on patient rights and responsibilities, HIPAA Privacy Notice, and any financial assistance documentation.</li>
<li>Thoroughly and accurately documents insurance verification information in the system, identifying deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and policy limitations. Obtains referral, authorization and pre-certification information if needed; documents this information in the EHR, electronic health record.</li>
<li>Answers all inbound and/or places outbound telephone calls as assigned and appropriately directs callers and ensures all calls are handled efficiently and in a timely manner. Consistently exhibits the highest level of service to all callers and fellow staff.</li>
<li>Contact patients by phone to remind them of upcoming appointments, relay instructions and/or to ask follow-up care questions as needed. Cancel and reschedule appointments as needed. May assist with identifying and initiating necessary referrals for specialist appointments, procedures and tests.</li>
<li>Organizes, expedites and follows-up on any paperwork related to patient care.</li>
<li>Schedules various types of appointments for providers and communicates any necessary instructions to the patient.</li>
<li>Performs various administrative support duties for department/work location. Opens, sorts and distributes all types of mail and correspondence as is necessary and assigned.</li></ul>

A Brief Overview 
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Vascular Access &amp; Infusion Services Team provides essential clinical and administrative support to the Vascular Access RNs and the Infusion Services team. This position assists with preparation and support during Vascular Access procedures; manages infusion referrals; and performs patient care tasks within the approved PCT scope of practice. The PCT contributes to safe, efficient workflow, supports CLABSI prevention initiatives, and enhances the overall patient experience. 
 
What you will do<ul><li>
Assist RNs with vascular access procedures by preparing patients and equipment for PICC and midline insertions, maintaining sterile fields in accordance with infection-prevention standards, and supporting dressing changes, securement, and site care under RN direction.</li><li>
Provide basic patient care and ensure procedural readiness by obtaining vital signs, assisting with positioning and comfort measures, setting up and maintaining vascular access equipment (including ultrasound machines, IV carts, and procedure trays), and restocking and organizing supply carts, procedure areas, and mobile kits.</li><li>
Coordinate intake and processing of infusion referrals by reviewing incoming orders for completeness (including diagnosis, labs, allergies, and treatment details), identifying and obtaining missing information from ordering offices, and accurately entering and routing referrals in the EMR to support timely scheduling.</li><li>
Support infusion workflow and patient readiness by tracking referral progress and maintaining daily workflow logs, assisting with appointment preparation (including confirming lab results, IV access needs, and pre-medication requirements), and communicating with provider offices to obtain necessary non-clinical documentation.</li><li>
Provide basic education on what to expect during vascular access or infusion procedures (within scope).</li><li>
Document patient care activities and workflow steps in the EMR in accordance with PCT guidelines, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of records.</li><li>
Support operational and quality initiatives by assisting with data collection for key metrics (including PICC insertions, infusion turnaround times, and CLABSI prevention), and performing clerical tasks such as scanning, uploading, referral organization, and supply tracking documentation.</li><li>
Maintain a safe and compliant clinical environment by adhering to sterile technique and infection-control standards, cleaning and disinfecting ultrasound equipment, procedure carts, and work areas.</li><li>
Support CLABSI-reduction strategies and compliance with vascular access bundles.</li><li>
Report any malfunctioning equipment to Biomed or department leadership.</li></ul>
