Under the general direction of the Utilities Director, the Water Treatment Plant Manager plans, organizes, and directs the operation of the Town&rsquo;s water treatment facilities, including supervision of personnel, compliance with state and federal regulations, and oversight of capital improvement projects.</p><p>

What You&rsquo;ll Be Doing</p><p>
This professional level position will perform a variety of complex technical work. This position is responsible for the following:</p><ul><li>
Manage day-to-day operations of the water treatment plant, including production, maintenance, and laboratory testing.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those established by the EPA, state environmental agencies, and local authorities.</li><li>
Supervise, train, and evaluate plant operators, technicians, and maintenance staff.</li><li>
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment, pumps, valves, and control systems.</li><li>
Monitor water treatment processes and system performance using SCADA and other monitoring tools.</li><li>
Maintain accurate operational, maintenance, and regulatory records; prepare and submit required reports.</li><li>
Oversee chemical inventory, procurement, and safe handling of treatment chemicals.</li><li>
Manage plant budgets, expenditures, and resource allocations.</li><li>
Lead emergency response activities related to water quality or plant operations.</li><li>
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.</li><li>
Coordinate with Town officials, engineers, and contractors for capital improvement projects.</li></ul><br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Required Qualifications</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or other related field; or equivalent combination of accepted education, training and experience.</li><li>
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in the operation of a Class I water treatment facility, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.</li><li>
Possession of a Class I Water Works Operator License as issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Relations.</li><li>
Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.</li><li>
Certifications in CPR, AED and First Aid or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.</li><li>
ICS 300 certification or ability to obtain within 24 months of employment.</li><li>
Knowledge of industrial computer systems (SCADA), Microsoft Office Suite and other applications applicable to the position.</li></ul></div><p></p>

<p></p><div><ul><li>Master&rsquo;s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering or a related field.</li></ul><ul><li>
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.</li></ul><ul><li>
Municipal or public utility experience.</li><li>
Bilingual in English/Spanish</li></ul></div><p></p>
