<div>GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs moderately complex work involving the care and custody of offenders. Work involves the direct supervision of offenders in their daily assigned duties including the responsibility of preventing escapes and maintaining discipline in conformance with strict rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Works under general supervision of a manager with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Perform other duties as assigned.

A probationary jailer work under the supervision of a jail administrator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Assumes a high level of responsibility for the care and custody of assigned offenders through knowledge of and adherence to laws, rules, and regulations, and standard operating procedures of the Pecos Municipal Criminal Justice Center.</li><li>
Searches for contraband and provides security; counts, feeds, and supervises offenders in housing, work, and other areas as directed.
</li><li>Provides custody and security of offenders including observing actions of offenders, squatting and bending to conduct &quot;pat&quot; and &quot;strip&quot; searches of offenders, restraining and securing offenders, and transferring and transporting offenders by walking or riding various vehicles such as vans, buses, and other forms of transportation.</li><li>
Supervises and provides security of offenders performing technical skills such as maintenance, laundry, food service, and in varied operations which involve climbing stairs and ladders and climbing around the inside or outside or building; works outdoors and indoors without air conditioning; works around equipment and machinery; and is subjected to all types of weather.</li><li>
Responds to emergencies, including climbing stairs and ladders while searching for escaped offenders, hearing calls for help, giving first aid at the emergency site, carrying in injured or unconscious offender or employee various distances to safety up or down stairs and ladders; Uses force and deadly force, including the use of chemical agents and firearms, to control offenders.</li><li>
Reads, reviews, and properly applies information found in offender records which is related to the offenders' affiliation, health and safety and to the security of the facility; complies with policies, procedures, rules, and regulation; and prepares and maintains records, forms, and reports.</li><li>
Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 45lbs and over, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, operate motor equipment, use firearms.</li></ul>
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Complete all duties assigned by supervisor. Keep work area clean. Perform other duties as assigned. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.</li><li>
Must possess and maintain a clean, current Texas driver's license.
</li><li>Minimum 1-year previous related experience preferred.
</li></ul>Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge
Some knowledge of principles and practices of municipal jail operations. Moderate knowledge of general office equipment and clerical operations.
Skills
Uses logic and reasoning to analyze, understands and evaluate situations. Exercises appropriate judgment in establishing priorities. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Good critical thinking and problem-solving skill is necessary.
Abilities
Ability to assess and manage a schedule. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other departments, council members, executive staff, and the public. Ability to maintain complex logs, records, and files and prepare accurate and detailed documentations. Ability to effectively present information to management. 
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All Jailers must complete minimum requirements for specialized training within one year of hire.

Correctional Officer

<div>General Purpose 
The TourismMarketing Coordinator is the first full-time support role for Visit Pecos and plays a key part in shaping the growth of Pecos as a tourism destination. This position combines marketing, communications, social media management, event coordination, and visitor experience development. 
The Coordinator will support the Director across all core CVB functions, including digital marketing, brand storytelling, visitor engagement, event execution, partner relations, and day-to-day CVB operations. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and foundational to building the Visit Pecos brand and elevating Pecos' position as a sports, heritage, and roadtrip destination.

Reports to and is under the direct supervision of the CVB Director
Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential DutiesResponsibilities
MarketingCommunications 
Write, proof, and edit website copy, blogs, newsletters, and marketing materials 
Manage updates to the Visit Pecos website (CMS), including events, attractions, hotels, and itineraries Develop and maintain content for social media platforms; create engaging posts, stories, and campaigns. 
Assist with media requests and basic PR tasks; support development of press releases and story pitches 
Maintain photo/video digital asset library
 
Assist with the creation and distribution of marketing and communications collateral, swag, and printed materials
Social MediaDigital Content 
Plan, schedule, and monitor social media content across key Visit Pecos channels. 
Capture on-site photo/video content at events, partner businesses, and community activities. 
Track analytics and performance metrics to improve content strategy. 
Collaborate with the Director on digital ad campaigns and audience engagement efforts. 
Visitor ExperienceCommunity Engagement 
Support development and expansion of Pecos visitor experiences 
Assist with destination storytelling and wayfinding materials. 
Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable destination representative at events, conferences, and media opportunities
 
Help build local partnerships with hotels, restaurants, attractions, and retail.
Event SupportCoordination 
Assist with planning and execution of tourism-related events including sports tournaments, festivals, placemaking activations, and community events 
Coordinate event logistics: vendors, volunteers, programming, schedules, and setup/breakdown. 
Provide on-site event presence for CVB-supported events, ensuring a positive visitor experience
 
Maintain post-event data, feedback summaries, economic impact notes, and recaps 
Manage the Visit Pecos community events calendar.
AdministrativeDepartment Support 
Support CRM data entry and updates. 
Assist with maintaining tourism databases, contact lists, partner information 
Assist with visitor center hospitality when needed (future function).
Complete all duties assigned by supervisor, keeps job site and work area clean, and must keep tools clean that are used in performing work. Provide backup to subordinate positions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 1-3 years of experience in administrative, clerical, or customer service work is preferred. 
Ability to maintain professionalism, strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal), and a positive attitude when engaging with the public. 
Fundamental mathematical and office procedure skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team. 
Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for events. 
Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and basic computer skills. 
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. 
EducationExperience 
High School Diploma or GED required. 
An associate or bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, or a related field, preferred. 
Experience in event planning, tourism, or hospitality is a plus. 
OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
