Job Requirements: 
 
Associate's Degree - Nursing (Required) 
New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. (Required) 
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant OR/Surgery nursing experience 
Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle 
Registered Nurse Required 
ACLS PALS may be required but is dependent on unit or department Preferred 
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required 
 
Job Responsibilities: 
 
Demonstrates organizational responsibilities. Identifies areas for self-improvement through self-assessment and peer review. Functions in roles and provides leadership on the unit as needed and requested. Cooperates with instructor to facilitate learning experiences for students. Demonstrates knowledge and is supportive of organizational and unit changes. Supports organizational activities by participating in activities such as committees, staff meetings, councils. Utilizes chain of command appropriately. Builds collegial relationships with physicians and other health team members. Demonstrates autonomy in identifying opportunities for process improvement. Evaluates the plan of care for patient based on optimal specific patient outcomes. Documents the patient/family response to care including teaching. Collaborates with the patient/family and with other members of the health care team, including physicians, to revise plan of care as needed. Supervises the care that was delegated to other health care team members. 
Implements plan of care for patient. Provides a safe and therapeutic environment while maintaining patient&rsquo;s autonomy, dignity, and rights. Determines plan of care based on ethical principles as outlined in the TriHealth Code of Ethical Business and Professional Behavior. Acts as a patient advocate. Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity. Seeks available resources to help formulate ethical decisions. Prioritizes the workload according to patient&rsquo;s needs, requests, and the needs of the unit/facility. Recognizes emergency situations, notifies appropriate personnel, and begins emergency measures. Completes patient as

Initiates and individualizes appropriate patient care guidelines/plan of care or clinical pathways. Updates current plan of care as needed based on patient/family input and healthcare needs. Develops both short and long term goals with patient/family and healthcare team including discharge planning. Communicates plan of care to others.

This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The position also collaborates, in a collegial manner, with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patient&rsquo;s needs. This position may delegate certain aspects of care to those under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice. 
Nurses in this position are: 
<ul><li>newly licensed RNs in specialty areas where the Vizient PNR Program is a requirement and</li><li>RNs with less than 1 year full time acute care RN experience prior to entering their RN role at TriHealth or</li><li>RNs with less than 2 years part time acute care RN experience prior to entering their RN role at TriHealth</li><li>RNs are enrolled in and required to complete the Vizient Professional Nurse Residency program.</li></ul>
- RNs will be moved to the Registered Nurse - Staff position upon completion of all PNR program requirements.</div>

Shift: Full Time/Nights (.9 FTE; 36 hrs/week)
14AB is a medical unit with 22 beds. Our patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients with varied medical diagnoses including complications from diabetes, pneumonia, cellulitis, encephalopathy, and remote telemetry. We also care for renal and urology surgery patients including those who have had a nephrectomy, prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and those with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI). Any patients admitted to the hospital who require peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatments, have PD care managed by a trained 14AB nurse. This unit supports the growth and learning of new grads. 14AB provides the opportunity to master time management, and a variety of skills such as suprapubic catheter exchange, continuous bladder irrigation, vascath removal and peritoneal dialysis
Job Requirements:
Associate's Degree 
Required to complete all elements of the TriHealth Vizient Professional Nurse Residency Program within 1 year 
New hires to obtain their BSN within 5 years of hire 
BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) 
Registered Nurse

Communicates assessment findings to other health care providers as appropriate. Includes health counseling and health teaching needs in assessment.
Plans care for patient and family based on assessment, standards of care, and optimal specific outcomes. Initiates and individualizes appropriate patient care guidelines/plan of care or clinical pathways. Updates current plan of care as needed based on patient/family input and healthcare needs. Develops both short- and long-term goals with patient/family and healthcare team including discharge planning. Communicates plan of care to others.
Provides a safe, therapeutic environment, maintains patient&rsquo;s autonomy, dignity, and rights, and is sensitive to patient diversity. Seeks resources to help formulate ethical decisions. Balances priorities of the patient's needs and those of the unit/facility. Recognizes emergency situations and takes appropriate action. Completes patient assignment including documentation within scheduled timeframe. Bases interventions on clinical data and desired outcomes and documents accordingly. Trains/educates other staff and acts an expert resource in specialty area through abilities in existing and newer knowledge and skills. Effectively communicates and understands/executes physician orders.
