TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES MUNICIPAL SCHOOLSJOB DESCRIPTIONTITLE OF JOB: Secondary TeacherREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree. Valid/current New Mexico teaching license with appropriate endorsement. Such an alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>Prepare teaching outline/syllabus for course of study.</li></ul><ul><li>Develop lesson plans and utilize instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.</li></ul><ul><li>Lecture, demonstrate and use technology and other appropriate learning activities to present subject matter to class utilizing approved course of study.</li></ul><ul><li>Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.</li></ul><ul><li>Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.</li></ul><ul><li>Prepare, administer and correct tests; record results.</li></ul><ul><li>Evaluate pupils ' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.</li></ul><ul><li>Assign lessons, correct papers and evaluate presentations.</li></ul><ul><li>Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.</li></ul><ul><li>Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning challenges.</li></ul><ul><li>Maintain order in classroom and on school campus.</li></ul><ul><li>Counsel pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.</li></ul><ul><li>Keep attendance and grade records as required.</li></ul><ul><li>Instruct pupils in citizenship and other basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations of the school district.</li></ul><ul><li>Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.</li></ul><ul><li>Assume other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.</li></ul>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:<ul><li>The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.</li></ul><ul><li>The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly.</li></ul>EVALUATION:<ul><li>Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with BOE policy.</li></ul>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary is established by salary schedule.This position description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of incumbent.
