The Sr. Statistical Associate/Data Scientist will lead research projects in the

area of statistical genetics and genomics in collaboration with investigators

in the Center for Quantitative Methods and Data Science (QM&amp;DS) at Tufts
<br>
Medical Center. The center was established in 2020 by Dr Paola Sebastiani
<br>
and is supported by several grants from NIH that involve institutions
<br>
across the US. QM&amp;DS currently comprises several biostatistics and
<br>
bioinformatics investigators who are leaders in genetic and genomic
<br>
analyses of observation studies in human healthy aging and extreme
<br>
longevity. The Sr. Statistical Associate/Data Scientist will have many
<br>
opportunities for collaboration with QM&amp;DS investigators and lead
<br>
research projects that fit the vision of the center.</p></div><p></p><div><p><b><br>
Job Overview</b></p></div><div><p>
This position oversees and coordinates data analysis and data management for clinical investigators. Provides analytic, programming, and data coordination support for researchers, grants, and research projects. Activities include the development and implementation of research databases, data coordination, and analytic plans. Works with principal investigator in the development of protocols and study plans, oversees data management and coordination, and supervises data analyses process. This position is also involved with training of new researchers in research methodologies, coordination of research activities, and the application of advanced programming and statistical methods.</p></div><p></p><div><p><b><br>

Minimum Qualifications</b><b>:</b></p></div><div><p>
1. Advanced degree (Master&rsquo;s or PHD) in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.</p></div><div><p>
2. Six (6) years of experience in a medical research environment.</p></div><p></p><div><p><b><br>
Preferred Qualifications:</b></p></div><div><p>
1. Experience in computer programming, managing, and analyzing large databases and data sets.</p></div><div><p>
2. Experience with SAS or R programming, and other relevant statistical analysis tools.</p></div><p></p><div><p><b><br>

1. Provides leadership to a research project in the development and implementation of data management and analytic plans.</p></div><div><p>
2. Collaborates significantly in development of grants and provides leadership in their implementation.</p></div><div><p>
3. Collaborates on original research that demonstrates the development or application of new research methodologies.</p></div><div><p>
4. Provides leadership in organizing or administering research components.</p></div><div><p>
5. Assists with teaching and mentoring of clinical researchers.</p></div><div><p>
6. Directly manages and supervises staff: writes and/or contributes to performance evaluations.</p></div><div><p>
7. Participates in the general statistical work of the Department including attending weekly research meetings and meetings with other staff statisticians.</p></div><div><p>
8. Participates in the development of courses and seminars.</p></div><div><p>
9. Actively participates in research seminars and lectures.</p></div><p></p><div><p><b><br>

Skills &amp; Abilities:</b></p></div><div><p>
1. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), and familiarity with databases (e.g., experience using MS Access).</p></div><div><p>
2. Analytical skills to appropriately develop and modify complex testing, reviewing of tests, and interpretation of findings.</p></div><div><p>
3. Ability to be meticulous and detail-oriented.</p></div><div><p>
4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle competing demands in order to meet project timelines.</p></div><div><p>
5. Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.</p></div><div><p>
6. Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities as needed.</p></div><div><p>
7. Clinical or scientific knowledge and techniques relevant to area of research.</p></div><div><p>
