 We are seeking a diverse set of software engineering interns to join our team. With a group that includes a Unix Lifetime Achievement winner, Putnam medalists, ACM Programming competition finalists, and International Mathematics Olympiad medalists, you'll be in the company of ambitious high achievers with common goals and a love of learning.
 
 
 The summer internship program lasts 10 weeks and takes place at our Soho-based New York City office. You will partner with an assigned mentor and work on a single project during the course of your time here, which culminates in a final presentation.
 
 
 You'll have the chance to attend all Two Sigma events, from brown bag lunches to our ongoing series of guest speakers. We&rsquo;ll host intern-specific social events to help you get to know other Two Sigma employees and explore all that surrounding New York City has to offer.
 
 
 As a student, you will be hired into a general Software Engineering role and matched to a specific team 2-3 months before you start.
 
 
 
 You Will Take On The Following Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Building the underlying infrastructure that virtually every other engineering team at Two Sigma uses, such as our distributed storage and public and private cloud environments.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensuring the reliability of &ldquo;mission critical&rdquo; products and systems vital to Two Sigma, such as our main trading system.
 </li>
 <li>
 Using a suite of open source and proprietary tools to build the environments that test and deploy our quantitative strategies, also known as models.
 </li>
 <li>
 Building and maintaining the low-latency, high-performance infrastructure and systems responsible for executing trades.
 </li>
 <li>
 Building and scaling the infrastructure used to ingest data from 10,000+ sources daily.
 </li>
 <li>
 Partnering with our Corporate teams to develop tools, systems and products responsible for increasing productivity and efficiency across the organization.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 You Should Possess The Following Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Coursework towards a Bachelor&rsquo;s, Master&rsquo;s, or PhD degree in a technical or quantitative field.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with Java, C, C++, Python, Ruby, Perl, or other languages that target the JVM.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in large-scale systems.
 </li>
 <li>
 Exceptional programming skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 A passion of with building quality software.
 </li>
 <li>

 The weekly base pay for this role will be between $3,800/Week (Bachelors), $3,900/Week (Masters) and $4,200/Week (PhD) based on academic degree conferred. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and/or benefits.

Software Engineering Internship - NYC

 You will be joining a team responsible for ensuring the firm has access to robust, highly performant means of trading as well as working with our modeling teams to optimize our trading systems. In this role, you will use your knowledge of market structure and high performance programming techniques to improve our platform and capabilities. You'll quickly engage with new research areas, deepen your expertise with Two Sigma data and tools, maintain high coding standards, and identify impactful projects in a multifaceted and critical field!  You Will Take On The Following Responsibilities

 Build platforms for simulation and live trading of different financial markets, instruments, and trading algorithms.
 </li>
 <li>
 Extend trading platforms to cover new markets and new asset classes, accounting for the financial details of those securities; review software code for errors and improvements.
 </li>
 <li>
 Analyze performance of software and other quantitative measures to inform decision making regarding the design and improvements of the trading systems.
 </li>
 <li>
 Design, engineer, and implement various financial trading and measurement software applications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide software support to traders implementing their portfolio orders.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 You Should Possess The Following Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Minimum 1 year of experience required; 2-6 years of experience preferred systems level development.
 </li>
 <li>
 BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with C, C++, or Rust is required. Familiarity with Python is a plus.
 </li>
 <li>
 A high-level understanding of data structures and algorithms.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in deploying and optimizing quantitative models in production environments is a strong plus
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in large-scale systems is desirable

 The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $250,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
