The Programming Languages research group (PLOW), led by Prof. Anitha Gollamudi at the Richard Miner School of Computer Science and Information, invites applications for a postdoctoral associate or research scientist position in the area of formal methods for security and machine learning.

Minimum Qualifications:

Postdoctoral Research Associate:

Education:
<ul>
<li>PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field</li>
</ul>
Research Scientist:

Education:
<ul>
<li>PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics</li>
</ul>
Experience:
<ul>
<li>At least one postdoctoral or post-PhD research (min: 2 years, full time) related experience</li>
</ul>
Common Skills:
<ul>
<li>Publications in top-tier venues in at least one of the following areas: security, programming languages, or machine learning</li>
<li>Strong programming skills and motivation to pursue independent research</li>
</ul>
Additional Considerations:
<ul>
<li>Background in cryptography or machine learning</li>
<li>Expertise in numerical methods is a significant plus</li>
<li>Expertise in GPU programming (or High Performance Computing) is a significant plus</li>
<li>Experience with formal methods and enthusiasm for applying them to security and/or machine learning</li>
<li>Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, with limited direction, as well as within a team environment.</li>
</ul>

This is a full-time, grant-funded, benefited position with an anticipated hiring range of $70,000&ndash;$85,000, and an anticipated starting salary of $70,000 for the position of research scientist. Anticipated hiring range for postdoc is $60,000-70,000. The specific title (postdoctoral associate or research scientist) will depend on the candidate&rsquo;s qualifications and experience.

This position is contingent upon funding, productivity, successful performance and the availability of funding. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on productivity, successful performance, and the availability of funding.
