SUMMARY
Provides primary care medical services to the patients of UMMA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 
<ul><li>
Provides thorough, compassionate, evidence-based patient care</li><li>
Reviews patient record, including allergies, problems, medications and immunization status.</li><li>
Elicits and records patient&rsquo;s medical history and social determinants of health.</li><li>
Accurate and thorough SOAP note documentation.</li><li>
Examines patient to determine general physical condition.</li><li>
Orders and accurately interprets only necessary laboratory tests, pathology results, radiologist reports in the development and execution of a treatment plan for patients.</li><li>
Documents gathered information in medical record as required by policies and analyses reports and findings of tests and examinations.</li><li>
Prescribes treatments and medication utilizing evidence-based medicine and based on patient&rsquo;s condition and allergies.</li><li>
Discusses any possible side effects to medication or immunization with patient.</li><li>
Prescribes vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases.</li><li>
Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for primary and secondary prevention of disease.</li><li>
May provide prenatal care to pregnant women and may provide postnatal care to mother and infant, if applicable.</li><li>
Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.</li><li>
May perform minor surgery/procedures based on privileges granted.</li><li>
Attempt to address all care gaps at each visit.</li><li>
Follows up with patient regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases.</li><li>
Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.</li><li>
Administer Family Planning services in compliance with title X Rules and Regulations/Protocols.</li><li>
Ability to develop positive rapport with patients and families to foster the provider/patient relationship.</li><li>
Active participation in the Quality Improvement Program, Peer Review, Provider and clinical meetings, as well as UMMA&rsquo;s Coverage and On-call schedule.</li><li>
Provide preventative health care services in accordance with HEDIS and other national evidence based standards.</li><li>
Able to complete patient charting in a timely fashion to support billing levels.</li><li>
Able to address all inbox messages in a timely manner.</li><li>
Maintain current knowledge-base and appropriate licensure</li><li>
Able to work 1 Saturday a month if need is identified</li><li>
Able to work collaboratively as a Care Team member</li><li>
Able to supervise NPs and Pas</li><li>
Able to precept medical students</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
SECONDARY DUTIES</h2><ul><li>
Supports UMMA fundraising objectives.</li><li>
Provides leadership support to clinical staff members.</li><li>
Support with expansion of UMMA services throughout Southern California.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY</h2>
The incumbent in this position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities. However, as a senior professional, he or she is expected to provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced staff members, medical students, as well as volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS/ POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion and acceptable results of post offer physical examination, drug screening, and criminal background check</li><li>
Healthcare Personnel Requirements for vaccinations and preventative testing: Hep B, Influenza, MMR, TDAP, and TB</li></ul>
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have:<ul><li>
Experience and training as a physician.</li><li>
Physician with an active unrestrictive CA license to practice medicine by the Medical Board of</li><li>
California.</li></ul>
EDUCATION:<ul><li>
Education and training necessary to obtain a medical degree. Requires valid license to practice medicine in the State of California. Board Certified or Board Eligible in specialty preferred.</li><li>
Education, training and experience necessary to meet the underwritten requirements for inclusion under UMMA&rsquo;s malpractice insurance coverage.</li></ul> 
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
While performing this work, the incumbent:<ul><li>
Will spend substantial time standing, sitting, speaking and listening</li><li>
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds</li><li>
Is expected to travel via personal vehicle throughout the community on a frequent basis</li></ul>
