Uncommon Schools is seeking a School Principal to co-lead alongside a Director of Operations. The School Principal is a full-time employee, hired, supported, and evaluated by the Regional Superintendent of Intruction. Instructional Leadership<ul><li>
Provide exemplary leadership to all school community members to achieve outstanding performance in preparing each student for college;</li><li>
Demonstrate a relentless commitment to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of school;</li><li>
Develop and communicate strategic school systems, culture, and vision, and build a plan to achieve that vision;</li><li>
Implement effective assessment systems and use data to inform decisions;</li><li>
Lead all aspects of curriculum development and assessment and ensure consistency within the school program and alignment with state and other rigorous standards.</li></ul>
Teacher Coaching &amp; Evaluation<ul><li>
Conduct daily teacher observations and provide real-time feedback to move the needle on student achievement;</li><li>
Oversee faculty and staff, including recruitment, evaluation, retention, and dismissal and hold primary responsibility for professional development, staff observations, curriculum development, staff communication, and program decisions;</li><li>
Lead faculty to ensure that all staff are providing well-managed and rigorous daily lessons, reasonable and effective daily homework, and regular and productive after-school tutoring;</li><li>
Foster commitment among staff to the development and fulfillment of the school&rsquo;s mission and objectives;</li><li>
Hold teachers accountable for meeting a high bar for student performance including requirements for special education accommodations and IEP modifications in partnership with the Special Education Coordinator.</li></ul>
School Culture<ul><li>
Build a joyful and rigorous school culture;</li><li>
Foster consistency in academic and behavioral expectations;</li><li>
Collaborate with school staff to support students&rsquo; academic and socio-emotional development;</li><li>
Ensure that traditions and rituals that support the school&rsquo;s college mission are built and maintained, grade by grade, year to year;</li><li>
Support staff to ensure the smooth administration and effectiveness of after school enrichment programs.</li></ul>
Family Engagement<ul><li>

A Bachelor's degree;</li><li>

Compensation
Compensation for this role is between $122,000 to $201,000. Most candidates who meet job description requirements will receive an offer of $122,000 - $132,000.
Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant professional development, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools.

 Uncommon English as a New Language Specialists are passionate, fierce advocates for their students, who manage both teaching our diverse population of English Language Learners and supporting their General Education colleagues.. They also provide crucial academic interventions to students who are developing their English language skills and believe they are capable of high academic achievement.
 
 
 
 
 
 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 
 
 
 1. Instruction

 You will review intake assessments to ensure that all students receive the educational services and instructional methods that they need to succeed aligned with their English proficiency.
 </li>

 You will provide small group instruction to entering and emerging English Language Learners.
 </li>
 <li>
 You will serve as push-in support for English Language Learners across grade and content areas.
 </li>
 <li>
 You will partner with general education teachers and advocate for all classroom accommodations required to support student growth.
 </li>
 <li>
 You will work closely with families in all grades of the school to address their questions regarding student progress and accommodations to support student needs.
 </li>
 <li>
 You will use standards-based assessment data to refine and differentiate curriculum and instruction.
 </li>

 2. English as a New Language Specific Responsibilities

 You'll collaborate with general education teachers, school leaders, and families to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments and ensure language development and access to curriculum..

 You will gather academic growth data and write goals to support student progress towards English proficiency.

 You will teach small groups of newcomers across grade levels, push into the general education setting across content areas and grade levels, implement strategies to differentiate instruction, and create modified materials for English Language Learners.

Are you passionate about building AI systems that solve real operational challenges within the education sector? We're looking for a Senior Developer to lead the vision setting for and deployment of AI solutions across Uncommon Schools&mdash;from intelligent agents that automate workflows to secure integrations with our core systems. In this role, you'll translate business needs into scalable AI infrastructure, mentor developers across functions, and help shape how our organization leverages generative AI. Your work will directly impact how thousands of educators and administrators work each day.
Duties &amp; Responsibilities
Solution Vision &amp; Architecture<ul><li>
Gather requirements from stakeholders across Uncommon and translate business challenges into comprehensive technical specifications for end-to-end AI systems</li><li>
Design and architect AI solutions including data flows, model selection, and integration patterns that balance innovation with reliability</li><li>
Partner with business process owners, product managers, and system managers to align AI capabilities with user needs and organizational goals</li></ul>
Development &amp; Deployment<ul><li>
Rapidly prototype and build Proofs of Concept and Minimum Viable Products using Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, and AI agent frameworks</li><li>
Architect and deploy production-grade AI agents that automate complex workflows while ensuring scalability, observability, and continuous performance monitoring</li><li>
Build secure API integrations and data pipelines that allow AI systems to safely interact with core Uncommon databases without errors or data hallucination</li></ul>
Infrastructure &amp; Enablement<ul><li>
Establish reusable AI stack templates and low-code tools that empower non-technical team members to develop solutions independently</li><li>
Maintain comprehensive documentation of AI environments, tools, and data flows to ensure organizational clarity and consistency</li><li>
Work with Data &amp; IT product managers to determine implementation pathways and data architecture across systems</li></ul>
Governance &amp; Continuous Improvement<ul><li>

Qualifications 
Required<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience</li><li>
7+ years of professional software development experience</li><li>
5+ years of hands-on experience building integrations using APIs between applications</li><li>
5+ years working with source control and continuous integration tools (such as GitLab)</li><li>
Proficiency coding or scripting in at least one programming language (Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Node.js)</li><li>
Experience with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment practices</li><li>
Strong understanding of automation tools and SDLC methodologies</li></ul>

The full compensation range for this role is $120,700-$142,000. Typically, new hires who fully meet all qualifications listed in the job description will start at $124,300. Starting compensation below this reflects candidates with less experience or qualifications. Offers near the top end of the range are reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications, bringing extensive experience and specialized expertise beyond what is listed.
Compensation determinations consider relevant professional experience and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Additionally, because we value internal growth and tenure, current staff members are not subject to salary caps within this range.
