JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant carries out orders for patient care as directed by the Medical Doctors, Physician Assistants, and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners. The Medical Assistant follows prescribed clinical workflows and participates in clinical and/or administrative tasks.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
1. Conducts chart prep for each patient daily and participates in daily huddles with the provider. Serves as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues; communicates with all patients, visitors, and colleagues in a professional manner while keeping customer service a top priority.
2. Greets and shows patients to exam room and prepares patient for visit with provider; follows SOP for documentation in the e-HR and Standing Orders appropriate to the visit type<ul><li>
Prepares patients for exam by measuring vital signs, reviewing screening questionnaires and accurately records information in patient chart. Addresses or alerts provider of concerns
</li><li>Reviews and updates current medication list, problem list, patient medical history, surgical history, and family history, making changes as needed. Addresses or alerts provider of concerns</li><li>
Follows established standards and protocols</li></ul>
3. Administers injections and medications as prescribed by the provider and in accordance with protocol, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice.
4. Prepares and assists providers with various procedures exams as designated by the provider
5. Implements standing orders.
6. Performs various tests upon the request of the provider, including but not limited to: phlebotomy, hearing tests, EKGs, breathing treatments, and vision tests.
7. Collects blood or other laboratory specimens and prepares them for further testing.
8. Participates in test tracking and monitors overdue results.
9. Administers the in-box to ensure patient communication and follow-up is completed and Clinician time is used wisely.
10. Assures exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit; maintains and cleans medical instruments and equipment after each procedure.
11. Assists provider and patient in reviewing and revising care plans and assesses patient progress; follows up with patient between visits as necessary.
12. Assists with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventative and chronic disease services.
13. Collaborates with care coordination to communicate all pertinent information for promoting coordinated activities among specialists, hospital admits, and emergency department visits to obtain all necessary patient information as well as any other necessary information needed to ensure continuity of care.
14. Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care.
15. Handles all patient information in a confidential manner according to Union Community Care&rsquo;s privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
16. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>
Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or competency assessment and two years of on-the-job training</li><li>
May be new graduate or have less than 2 years of relevant experience</li><li>
Current CPR certification</li><li>

JOB SUMMARY
Assists the dentists with providing dental care to the patients of Union Community Care (UCC) Is also responsible for maintaining the dental equipment, supplies, clinical area and ensuring OSHA compliance.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES<ul><li>Patient Care</li></ul>
1. Welcomes and prepares patient to be treated by the dentist
2. Helps patient to feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment
3. Takes any prescribed radiographs (x-rays) for the dentists
4. Reviews and updates health and dental histories with the patient
5. Takes patient&rsquo;s blood pressure
6. When necessary, makes notes in the dental chart (i.e. chief complaint and blood pressure readings)
7. Prepares operatory for procedure to be performed
8. Assists dentist in performing four-handed dentistry following established Policies and Protocols for each individual procedure
9. Following the dental procedure, gives any necessary post-op instructions or home care instructions
10. Completes the patient visit by taking them to the check-out desk<ul><li>Operatory Maintenance</li></ul>
11. After every visit removes all disposable barriers and instruments
12. Uses proper pre-cleaning and disinfecting procedures to disinfectant all surfaces and supplies
13. Replaces all barriers in operatory and sets up instruments for the next patient
14. Maintains dental equipment and informs Dental PM about any necessary equipment repairs
15. Ensures that dental supplies are stocked in proper areas (i.e. operatory and lab)<ul><li>Dental Laboratory</li></ul>
16. Cleans and sterilizes dental equipment after every patient visit
17. Maintains sterilization equipment
18. Stocks and pulls tags for the dental order; gives supply tags to the Dental PM
19. Maintains dental radiograph sensors and machine
20. Pours impressions
21. Tracks dental laboratory cases and contacts dental labs as needed for pick-up or other communications<ul><li>Miscellaneous Duties:</li></ul>
22. Participates in any meetings, seminars, or training sessions as directed
23. Assists as an interpreter for dental providers as needed
24. Assists front desk in times of under-staffing
25. Performs other work-related duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>Pennsylvania Dental Radiology Certification; recertified every four (4) years</li><li>CPR Certified; recertified every two (2) years</li><li>Child Abuse Clearance; re-checked every two (2) years</li><li>Attends fraud, waste, abuse and cultural competency classes every year</li><li>Knowledge and familiarity with dental and medical terminology</li><li>Knowledge and use of dental software</li><li>English proficiency required</li></ul>
