Job Summary:The Purchasing/Central Supply Assistant will assist the Director to receive and maintain sufficient inventory. The assistant will fill daily orders utilizing the electronic material management system and ensure inventory control.Supervisory Responsibilities:&middot; No supervisory responsibilities.Duties/Responsibilities:&middot; Fills daily department orders of stock and non-stock items&middot; Check prices as needed&middot; Creates purchase orders&middot; Assists with year-end inventory&middot; Run month end and review reports with Director&middot; Monitor inventory for expired items&middot; Assists Director with purchasing local items&middot; Demonstrates proper attitude and professionalism when communicating with vendors, delivery personnel, patients or hospital visitors&middot; Responsible for documenting UPS and FED EX deliveries&middot; Collects sharps containers on a regular schedule&middot; Checks stocking and temperature of fluid warmer&middot; Back up courier&middot; Performs pickups and deliveries&middot; Performs other duties as requiredRequired Skills/Abilities:&middot; Must have the ability to remain current on fire, safety and exposure control plans&middot; Basic typing, computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and internet searches&middot; Communication, telephone and adding machine required&middot; Organization skillsEducation and Experience:&middot; High school diploma or equivalent preferred.&middot; At least one year of purchasing or materials management experience preferred or demonstrated ability for ordering merchandise and purchase orders.Shared Values / Expectations:&middot; Has regular attendance and punctuality.&middot; Adapts to change in a positive manner, exhibits timely action to correct or prevent problems, shows enthusiasm for new ideas, programs and procedures.&middot; Has organization skills as shown by effectiveness in planning and performing work systematically.&middot; Knowledgeable of and follows Behavior Standards towards patients and coworkers.&middot; Meets quality and quantity of work requirements.&middot; Completes work assignments timely and accurately.&middot; Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating with staff to achieve departmental goals and promotes good relationships with employees, other departments and the public.&middot; Abides by department, hospital and human resources policies and proceduresWorking conditions: Union General Hospital risk category of experiencing blood/body fluid exposure during the performance of their job duties - LOWMedium (lifting 50 lbs max with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs)Job Type: Full-timeExpected hours: 40 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>401(k) matching</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li></ul>Work Location: In person
