The Vice President, Associate General Counsel &ndash; Employment Law is responsible for supporting the Chief Legal Officer in managing legal and regulatory matters, with a primary focus on labor and employment issues. This role provides strategic legal counsel and direction to executive leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and legal compliance. The position manages legal risk, ensures compliance with evolving labor laws, and oversees critical legal and compliance initiatives that support the organization&rsquo;s objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, this role operates with significant autonomy and responsibility across a variety of business and regulatory domains. Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Provides guidance to senior management and key business stakeholders on a range of labor and employment issues, encompassing regulatory compliance, business development, strategic opportunities, human resources (HR), contractual matters, and other pertinent legal or business initiatives<ul><li>
Monitor legal developments on federal, state, and local laws applicable to labor and employment issues and help ensure the Company&rsquo;s policies and practices are consistent with such laws</li><li>
Regularly update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws</li><li>
Serve as a resource and advise the HR and legal departments on labor and employment issues</li><li>
Facilitate internal investigations in partnership with the Deputy General Counsel, with an emphasis on employee complaints or conduct</li><li>
Coordinate and partner with outside counsel, as required, on significant legal matters with strategic impact to the business</li><li>
Establish and maintain excellent communication and positive relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes concerning legal matters</li></ul></li><li>
Provide legal advice on a variety of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters with significant impact to the business, with an emphasis on applicable federal, state, and local labor and employment laws<ul><li>
Support and advise key business stakeholders on strategic initiatives, including merger and acquisition, business development, and government relations efforts</li><li>
Conduct legal review of HR policies and procedures, provides regulatory and compliance guidance to HR, legal, and other internal clients on employee issues to ensure compliance with applicable federal state, local, and accreditor requirements</li><li>
Advise on complaints and requests for information from federal and state agencies, as well as division accreditor(s)</li><li>
Manage and oversee responses to subpoenas and other requests for information</li><li>
Perform significant litigation management and oversight responsibilities in coordination with Deputy General Counsel and assists with regular internal and external reporting on status of litigation matters.</li><li>
Coordinates with insurers and key internal stakeholders on active litigation matters.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li>
Establish/maintain a high-performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics</li><li>

Qualifications:

Education / Experience</b></div><ul><li>
Juris Doctor (required)</li><li>
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a law firm, government, regulatory agency, or corporate legal department (required)</li><li>
Direct experience with California employment law and litigation (required)</li><li>
Familiarity with ADA, ADEA, COBRA, ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, GINA, NLRA, OSHA, Title VII, USERRA, and WARN (required)</li><li>
Experience advising executive leadership and HR functions (required)</li><li>
Experience working in a public company legal department (preferred)</li><li>
Experience with regulatory issues in post-secondary education (preferred)</li><li>
Experience in multi-jurisdictional organizations (preferred)</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>

Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.</li><li>
