<p><b>Description</b>:</p>
<p>
Performs professional work involved in the development and administration of the equal opportunity (EO) policies and procedures of the University of Houston System and the University of Houston Office of Equal Opportunity Services (EOS).</p>
<p>
1. Provides prompt and equitable resolution of complaints of unlawful discrimination, including sexual misconduct.</p>
<p>
2. Interprets University policies and procedures, and local, state and federal rules and regulations related to EO issues.</p>
<p>
3. Investigates and resolves complaints of unlawful discrimination which includes interviewing witnesses, analyzing evidence, drafts investigative reports and in conjunction with the appropriate administrators, implements courses of action to address those matters.</p>
<p>
4. Designs, implements, and delivers antidiscrimination programming for the University, including delivering ongoing training designed to promote awareness and prevent sexual misconduct, including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.</p>
<p>
5. Provides access and accommodation assistance for students and employees with pregnancy-related conditions and/or disabilities consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act.</p>
<p>
6. May schedule, plan, coordinate and organize special events for the EOS.</p>
<p>
7. May prepare, edit and produce publications for the EOS.</p>
<p>
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.</p>
<p>
MQ: Education; Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.</p>
<p>
Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.</p>

Provides expertise in support of research projects in engineering, biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, etc. Prepares and edits research papers, proposal, and reports. <b>Position Summary:</b><br>
The laboratory of Dr. Mingfu Wu is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Researcher to support ongoing NIH- and AHA-funded projects focused on cardiovascular development and disease. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic team of scientists investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying dementia, heart formation, congenital defects, and cardiomyopathy, using both in vitro and in vivo mouse models.</p>
<div><b>
Key Responsibilities:</b><br>
<ul><li>Perform genotyping, tissue dissection, and routine molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blotting, RNA isolation, qPCR).</li><li>Conduct mouse colony management, including breeding, weaning, tagging, and record keeping.</li><li>Assist in conducting experiments involving mouse models of cardiovascular disease.</li><li>Perform histology, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy-based imaging.</li><li>Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments and results.</li><li>Contribute to general laboratory maintenance and compliance with safety protocols.</li><li>Participate in lab meetings and collaborate closely with graduate students, postdocs, and the PI.</li></ul></div>
<div><b>
Minimum Qualifications:</b><br>
<ul><li>B.S. degree in Biology, Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.</li><li>Hands-on experience with mouse handling, husbandry, and genotyping is required.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in cardiovascular-related research is strongly preferred.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.</li><li>Excellent communication and data recording skills.</li></ul></div>
<div><b>
Preferred Qualifications:</b><br>
<ul><li>Experience with tissue sectioning, fluorescence microscopy, or in situ hybridization.</li><li>Familiarity with genetic lineage tracing or Cre-loxP systems.</li></ul><br>
Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
