President Reshef&rsquo;s TED Talk and Nas Daily interview about the University have 30 million views combinedGENERAL PURPOSE: The Instructional Designer (ID) collaborates with Subject Matter Experts todevelop quality online courses for UoPeople. The Instructional Designer will utilize provenandragogical methods and current tools to create interactive and engaging content for students.Courses are developed with full accessibility and by the university standards. InstructionalDesigners act as the liaison between Department Chairs, Faculty, and Subject Matter Experts andthe internal teams involved in the design and development of engaging courses.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:&middot; Works with Subject Matter Experts on the design and development of the UoPeople onlinecourses.&middot; Provides expertise in instructional planning, development, implementation, and evaluationof online learning courses.&middot; Reviews online course materials for copyright and ADA and Section 508 compliance.&middot; Collaborates with the Course Developer team to develop accessible, engaging, andinteractive content elements.&middot; Ensures the application and integration of appropriate teaching and learning theory anddistance learning principles into a fully online course development process.&middot; Assists with the selection of instructional materials and the design and use of learning toolsand activities for an interactive online environment.&middot; Provides guidance and assistance for the creation of effective and meaningful assessmentsof student learning.&middot; Contributes to the identification of high-quality open education resources (OER).&middot; Provides direction on the design and development of all course elements, including syllabi,course learning outcomes, and curricular mapping.&middot; Tracks progress and ensures timely completion of the overall project deliverables.&middot; Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:&middot; Master&rsquo;s degree in instructional design or related field preferred, but not required.&middot; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required in instructional design or related field.&middot; Relevant certifications in education and/or educational technology are acceptable.&middot; 1-3 years&rsquo; experience required.&middot; Fluency in languages is a plus, specifically Arabic and Spanish.&middot; Ability to manage time, projects, and resources to achieve goals.&middot; Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.&middot; Working knowledge of basic instructional design principles.&middot; Some technical skills, including a basic knowledge of HTML, Internet research, OpenEducational Resources (OERs), and educational web tools.&middot; Proven abilities in curriculum development and instructional design.&middot; Interest in the implementation of innovative, creative course delivery methods.&middot; Familiarity with the OSCQR rubric preferred, but not required.Job Type: Contract Contract length: 12 monthsWork Location: Remote
