<div>General Summary
The Research Coordinator is responsible for reviewing, implementing, and ensuring the Research department adheres to UCA and industry protocols for screening, collecting, and compiling patient data regarding visits and/or services.]
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Responsible for reviewing, implementing, and adhering to protocols selected to be conducted at Urology Centers of Alabama.</li><li>
Attends and participates in Investigator Meetings and seminars, as needed (may require overnight travel)</li><li>
Responsible for recruiting and pre-screening (via chart review and/or phone) patients for actively enrolling protocols.</li><li>
Assists in informing/educating physicians and nursing personnel about actively enrolling protocols.</li><li>
Performs Screening Visits on qualified pre-screened patients, including obtaining initial written consent.</li><li>
Coordinate all patients visits, tests and procedures to comply with the requirements of the protocol.</li><li>
Able to perform ECGs and Vital Signs</li><li>
Collect, process and ship all blood, urine and tissue specimens as required by individual protocols and IATA (International Air Transport Association).</li><li>
Collect data at every visit as required by the protocol and source documents.</li><li>
Ensure all data collected at every visit is completely, accurately and clearly documented on source document pages.</li><li>
Able to transcribe all data on source document pages to the specific Case Report Form (CRF) for the protocol.</li><li>
Maintain open lines of communication with the patients and physicians.</li><li>
Assist in the maintenance of all essential documents for the study.</li><li>
Receive study medication and dispense to patients with instructions according to protocol requirements.</li><li>
Maintain accountability logs for all study medication received at site, dispensed to patients and destroyed/returned to sponsor.</li><li>
Assists in the maintenance of study supplies, including ordering, unpacking and storage.</li><li>
Responsible for reading, learning, adhering to and passing tests, when necessary, for ICH Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the Code of Federal Regulations regarding Clinical Research (CFR), International Air Transport Association (IATA), and study specific guidelines.</li><li>
Able to maintain written record of all communication with patients, sponsors, monitors, labs, etc., as needed during the conduct of a study.</li><li>
Able to use electronic medical record (EMR) system, Outlook, Word, Excel and various computer systems required by studies, training provided for the systems required by studies.</li><li>
Maintains continuing education requirements for nursing licensure.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>
Must be current in ICH/GCP training.</li><li>
Must have previous clinical lab experience, including phlebotomy.</li><li>
Must be able to perform ECGs and document vital signs.</li><li>
Must show proficiency in use of a variety of office equipment including a PC, Windows, MSOffice, EMR system, multi-line telephone, copier, facsimile machine, etc.</li><li>
Must have a Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification. Certification must be renewed and up to date.</li><li>
Must be able to travel to continuing education seminars or conventions, and act as an ambassador for UCA.
</li><li>Must show the ability to have excellent interpersonal skills and communication to interact with all walks of life, internal and external to UCA, from all educational or cultural backgrounds.
</li><li>Must show the ability to work independently or within a team in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>
Must show the ability to maintain confidentiality, including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.</li></ul></div>

Research Coordinator

<div>General Summary
The Prior Authorization Specialist coordinates and secures insurance authorization for medications, in-office injections, and imaging when needed to support timely patient care. This role involves reviewing payer requirements, gathering appropriate clinical documentation, and communicating with insurance companies, pharmacies, and internal staff to facilitate authorization approvals. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong time management, attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple requests while maintaining organization and professionalism in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
<ul><li>Complete authorization submissions through electronic platforms, payer portals, and telephone communications with insurance representatives when required.
</li><li>Review patient charts to obtain relevant clinical documentation needed to support authorization requests
</li><li>Communicate professionally with insurance companies, pharmacies, patients, and internal staff regarding authorization requirements and status updates.
</li><li>Track and update prior authorization requests and outcomes using internal tracking tools and insurance portals to ensure timely processing and follow-up.
</li><li>Demonstrate accountability for assigned authorization requests by monitoring status and following up with payers when necessary.
</li><li>Actively monitor PA Pool and EHR inbox communications to ensure timely response to authorization requests and related inquiries.
</li><li>Ensure all prior authorization submissions and supporting documentation accurately reflect the patient&rsquo;s medical record and comply with payer requirements.

</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize urgent requests and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills when interacting with patients, insurance representatives, pharmacies, and internal clinical staff.
</li><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and ethical decision-making when handling patient information and submitting prior authorization requests.
</li><li>HS Diploma or GED required.</li></ul></div>
