Opportunity Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Laboratory Tech to join our team at Luminary Life Sciences in San Jose, California.
<ul>
<li>Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time</li>
<li>Compensation: $27 per hour (commensurate with experience)</li>
</ul>

How You&rsquo;ll Contribute

In this role, the Laboratory Tech will:
<ul>
<li>Assist with sample receiving and specimen verification</li>
<li>Perform DNA amplification and NGS testing</li>
<li>Analyze NGS data for chromosomal abnormalities and accurately compile patient results into report summaries</li>
<li>Maintain laboratory equipment under the supervision of the laboratory manager</li>
<li>Complete regular cleaning and stocking of laboratory</li>
<li>Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and standards for the laboratory</li>
<li>Follow quality assurance and quality control programs</li>
<li>Observe all laboratory safety policies</li>
<li>Troubleshoot protocol and equipment malfunctions under the direction of laboratory manager</li>
<li>Handling blood-borne pathogens and general laboratory reagents</li>
<li>Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.</li>
<li>Will be responsible for learning all aspects of PGT-A/PGT-SR testing.</li>
<li>Sample receiving, amplification, library preparation, sequencing, and reporting.</li>
<li>This position requires high attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow protocols.</li>

Qualifications and Skills Include:

<li>Bachelors of Science degree in Biology or relevant field required. Lab degree and/or work experience preferred.</li>
<li>Minimum 1 year experience in laboratory setting.</li>
<li>Computer proficiency required.</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.</li>
<li>Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.</li>
<li>Flexibility and willingness to learn at all times.</li>
<li>Excellent multi-tasking abilities.</li>
<li>Ability to make timely, accurate, and legible records.</li>
<li>Ability to follow detailed protocols with a high level of accuracy.</li>
<li>Ability to perform benchwork 75-100% of the time.</li>
<li>Ability to adhere to requirements of HIPAA and other ethical standards with respect to patient-specific information.</li>
<li>Ability to observe the safety practices and protocols common to all laboratory activities and those specific to a genetics laboratory.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).</li>
<li>Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, and to work independently to meet deadlines.</li>
<li>Possession of a high attention to detail, with low technical and clerical error rates.</li>

<li>Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal financial and insurance information</li>

What You&rsquo;ll Bring

Qualifications and Skills Include:

<li>Minimum 2 to 4 years of medical business office experience, with working knowledge of healthcare billing and collections, insurance/benefits, and patient interaction</li>
<li>Must have experience reading and understanding payer remittance advice. Includes the ability to differentiate between allowed charges, contractual adjustments, line item denials/reasons, patient responsibility (co-pay, co-insurance, and deductibles), etc.</li>
<li>Bachelor's Degree preferred</li>
<li>Experience working in an OB/GYN office is a plus</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills required to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers, patients, and insurance companies</li>
<li>Strong oral and written communication skills, independent worker, detailed-oriented, computer savvy</li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft programs, specifically Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel</li>
<li>High level of customer service essential</li>

<li>Recruit, screen, and enroll eligible study participants</li>
<li>Obtain informed consent and educate patients on study protocols and expectations</li>
<li>Schedule and manage study visits in coordination with clinical teams</li>
<li>Collect, process, and document clinical data and biological samples</li>
<li>Maintain accurate regulatory documentation and ensure compliance with IRB, FDA, and GCP guidelines</li>
<li>Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, investigators, and study sponsors</li>
<li>Monitor patient safety and report adverse events per protocol</li>
<li>Prepare for monitoring visits, audits, and inspections</li>
<li>Assist with data entry, query resolution, and study reporting</li>

<li>Experience in fertility (familiarity with fertility treatments such as IVF or IUI), reproductive health, or women's health strongly preferred</li>
<li>Experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems</li>
<li>Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple studies in a fast-paced environment</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach</li></ul>
