About the role:
 
 
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic summer intern to join our field team and gain hands on experience in the building materials industry. As a Supply Chain (Sourcing) Intern you will support procurement teams by analyzing supplier data, assist with vendor negotiations to drive cost savings/efficiencies, and merchandising focused on fasteners, hardlines, and flooring within the building materials industry. 
 
Our internship will provide the opportunity to work with us within our field operations team. As a summer intern, you will participate in a paid program with hands on experience to work on real-world projects, collaborate with industry leaders, and develop valuable skills for your future career!

Education and Requirements:

Compensation:

Supply Chain (Sourcing) Intern

<div>Based in Michigan, Zeeland Lumber &amp; Supply operates truss and wall panel component manufacturing plants along with full-service building material yards that distribute lumber and an expansive range of specialty products, such as windows, doors, roofing, cabinets, decking, and interior and exterior trim. 
 
A Brief Overview 
 
The Designer Hourly uses computer or technical tools to prepare detailed presentation of building material requirements and or systems for assigned project or related segment. This position may design and complete layouts of residential roof and floor systems for pricing and manufacturing. 
 
What you will do 
<ul><li>
Designs residential roof and floor systems and produces layouts.</li><li>
Discusses changes and corrections with engineers, architects and contractors prior to and during construction.</li><li>
Presents, sells and follows-up on new jobs.</li><li>
Prepares roof truss and truss joist floor layouts.</li><li>
Performs job site inspections.</li><li>
Produces materials list.</li><li>
Determines special notes to append contracts.</li><li>
Resolves architectural and design discrepancies.</li><li>
Assists in the shipping department.</li><li>
Read and understand blueprints and detailed technical drawings.</li><li>
Use computer or other technical equipment to provide a technically accurate layout (takeoff) of customer order.</li><li>
Adhere to local building codes and material constraints when developing material list and design layout.</li><li>
Produce final copies for contractor use for bathrooms, kitchens, decks, patios and others as assigned.</li><li>
Assist customers as required, providing accurate, timely and thorough customer service.</li><li>
Measure and scale projects on-site.</li><li>
Invoice project, schedule installation and delivery of products and materials.</li></ul>

Education Qualifications 
<ul><li>
High School or GED required.
</li><li>Associate's Degree in civil, architectural or design related field may be required.
</li><li>Bachelor's Degree preferred.
</li><li>Applicable work experience may be substituted for education requirement.
</li></ul> 
Experience Qualifications 
<ul><li>
1 year of drafting experience in a construction or building materials-related industry required.
</li></ul> 
Skills and Abilities 
<ul><li>
Special skills required-Proficient technical writing skills. Excellent salesmanship and communication skills. Proprietary software, AUTOCAD, computer literate, ability to read technical drawings.
</li><li>Special knowledge required-Reading and interpreting blueprints in an architectural related industry.
</li>Other-PC Literate with Microsoft Office products, AUTO CAD, and other design programs that facilitate learning in-house program with ease.
