<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">JOB SUMMARY
</h3>The Clinical Unit Coordinator provides coordination of direct and indirect patient care at the hospital wide level. She/he is responsible for shift or specific operations of the hospital for the provision of effective patient care. This includes patient flow, personnel management, quality improvement, direct and indirect patient care. She/he provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with minimal supervision. The Clinical Unit Coordinator incorporates a higher level of skill and knowledge to perform and role model direct and indirect patient care of the neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient through mentoring and advising on the assessment of health needs, development and implementation of the plan of care, and ability to evaluate outcomes. She/he consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, accountability, confidence, critical thinking, fairness, and flexibility. Supports the department Manager and Assistant Manager in accomplishing department goals and outcomes and sustaining a state of continual regulatory readiness. In addition, the Clinical Unit Coordinator is visible, present, and available to staff in providing mentoring, teaching, and support. Some of the major job functions include but are not limited to: Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Demonstrates attitude and communication in alignment with ASPIRE values Available for consultation to evaluate patient progress toward desired outcomes and assists in taking corrective action to promote effective patient care and in meeting Quality Indicators. Participates in MD rounds/Huddles as applicable. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Models and exemplifies the facilities core values. Assists the Nurse Manager with monitoring and improving patient and employee satisfaction scores. Facilitates Huddles as needed and holds staff accountable to topics presented. Supports institutional and unit goals. Promotes staff development and employee engagement. Serves as clinical/operational resource to staff. Serves as a clinical knowledge expert. Promotes a shared governance model on the unit. Assists with staffing and scheduling to meet department needs. Seeks out opportunities for own professional growth.
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">QUALIFICATIONS
</h3>Education: Completion of a nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience: 2 years of experience in acute care setting or specialized unit preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Registered Nurse with a current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to perform basic nursing skills on groups of patients Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly. Ability to administer medication utilizing the five rights. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form. Basic computer knowledge.

Clinical Unit Coordinator

Performs Patient Access functions of a specialized nature through the application and interpretation of policies and procedures and requiring the use of independent judgment in a medical setting. This includes mastery of registration insurance scheduling and billing/POS collections (OLJ) in multiple locations which include varying clinical demands as well as registration criteria. Additionally Patient Access Specialists are the first line of dialogue about Financial Assistance through financial screening. Offer financial screening with a mini screening at registration and refer to the Financial Coordinators for financial counseling support and screening.
 
Demonstrates exceptional customer service both for in-person and telephone activities.
 Demonstrates expected behaviors applicable to the Medical Center and Revenue Cycle access systems and policies procedures and guidelines.
 Receives funds issues receipts balances cash journals and makes deposits.
 Maintains current working knowledge; adheres to Revenue Cycle policies and procedures; performs problem-solving activities.
 Performs area-specific support activities.
 Demonstrates engagement in the work team and goals of the Revenue Cycle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
 
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
 
The starting base rate for this role is $17.50 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.

Patient Access Specialist - Revenue Cycle Pipeline

These roles provide essential assistance to healthcare professionals in delivering patient care. Ensure the smooth functioning of clinical operations by handling tasks that support the diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural aspects of patient care. Allied Health - Health Services professionals work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services.
 
These roles focus on the treatment and care of patients with kidney failure or chronic kidney disease (CKD), and are integral to managing patients who require dialysis. Professionals work in various healthcare settings, including outpatient and inpatient settings.
 
Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty. Spends majority of time in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. Opportunities for progression outside this career stream are typically limited without additional education or significant training and experience. ​ Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through training and/or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care areas.
 Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education.​ Works under moderate supervision. Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. ​ Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation​.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
 Experience: Previous health care experience preferred.
 Licensure: Certified as a Patient Care Dialysis Technician by a State Agency or Nationally Recognized Certification Program within 18 months of hire date.
 American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
 
Criteria for use of the titles of dialysis patient care technician or dialysis care technician. In order to use the titles of dialysis patient care technician or dialysis care technician or administer medications in a Medicare certified renal dialysis facility, a person shall hold one of the following certifications: 1. Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC); 2. Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) by the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT); 3. Certified in Clinical Nephrology Technology (CCNT) by the National Nephrology Certification Organization (NNCO); or 4. Certification or licensure as a dialysis technician or similar title by another jurisdiction in the United States provided the standards for certification or licensure or substantially equivalent to those in Virginia.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
 
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling; Repetitive motion: Building dialysis machines and wrist rotation. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 – 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
 
The starting base rate for this role is $18.37 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
