Job Summary</b></h2><p>
VSolvit ais seeking a highly motivated <b>Software Developer (C++)</b> to join our team supporting the development, modernization, and sustainment of mission-critical analysis applications for the U.S. Navy. This position is ideal for a mid-to-senior level software engineer with strong C++ development experience, a passion for solving complex technical challenges, and the ability to contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.</p><p>
The selected candidate will work within a collaborative Agile SAFe environment, partnering with software engineers, systems engineers, testers, and government stakeholders to design, develop, enhance, and maintain desktop-based analytical applications. The role involves modernizing legacy software systems, implementing new capabilities, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing to the long-term technical direction of the platform.</p><p>
Successful candidates will possess strong object-oriented design skills, experience developing multi-threaded applications, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment. Experience working in DoD, government, or other regulated environments is highly desirable.</p><p>

Responsibilities</b></h2><ul><li><p>
Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to design, develop, test, and maintain desktop-based software applications</p></li><li><div>
Develop high-quality software solutions using C++ and modern software engineering practices</div></li><li><div>
Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and efficient application components</div></li><li><div>
Apply object-oriented design principles, multi-threading, concurrency, synchronization, and asynchronous programming techniques</div></li><li><div>
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and performance issues</div></li><li><div>
Participate in the modernization of legacy applications and implementation of new capabilities</div></li><li><div>
Contribute to software architecture, technical design discussions, and code reviews</div></li><li><div>
Develop and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and software test procedures</div></li><li><div>
Work closely with systems engineers, analysts, testers, and government stakeholders to ensure mission requirements are met</div></li><li><div>
Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies</div></li><li><p>
Support software integration, deployment, and sustainment activities</p></li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Basic Qualifications</b></h2><ul><li><p>
5&ndash;10 years of professional software development experience</p></li><li><div>
Strong proficiency in C++ with a focus on desktop application development</div></li><li><div>
Experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing desktop applications using C++</div></li><li><div>
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software engineering principles</div></li><li><div>
Experience with multi-threading, concurrency, synchronization, and task-based asynchronous programming</div></li><li><div>
Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex software applications</div></li><li><div>
Experience troubleshooting and resolving software defects in production or operational environments</div></li><li><div>
Working knowledge of Git source control, including branching, merging, code reviews, commits, and pull request workflows</div></li><li><div>
Strong written and verbal communication skills</div></li><li><div>
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment</div></li><li><div>
U.S. Citizenship required</div></li><li><div>
Active Secret DoD Security Clearance required</div></li><li><div>

Preferred Qualifications</b></h2><ul><li><p>
5 to 7+ years of professional software development experience</p></li><li><div>
Experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and SAFe</div></li><li><div>
Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence</div></li><li><div>
Experience developing desktop applications in government, defense, or regulated environments</div></li><li><div>
Experience modernizing legacy software systems and migrating applications to newer architectures</div></li><li><div>
Familiarity with CMake for configuring, building, and managing C++ projects</div></li><li><div>
Experience with modern C++ standards (C++11/14/17/20)</div></li><li><div>
Experience debugging, profiling, and optimizing complex software systems</div></li><li><div>
Familiarity with Python scripting and automation</div></li><li><div>
Experience supporting U.S. Navy or Department of Defense software development efforts</div></li><li><div>
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) experience is a plus</div></li><li><p>
