<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><b>Job Summary: </b>The Optometry Assistant aids the optometrist in both clinical and administrative duties.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Job Responsibilities:</b></div><ul><li>
Processes patient&rsquo;s information through the computer system and helps maintain the operation of the reception records and examination room area.</li><li>
Retrieves patient records from other clinics to ensure complete information on file before appointment date.</li><li>
Manages continuous patient flow by effectively communicating with team members and providers.</li><li>
Conducts inventory of supplies at the stock examination rooms. Verifies and maintains stock level and recommends disposal for all expired supply items.</li><li>
Disinfects and wipes down all equipment and instruments.</li><li>
Conduct pre-testing and special testing for the following equipment and instruments:<ul><li>
Pre-testing I &ndash; auto refraction, lensometry, and tonometry.</li><li>
Pre-testing II &ndash; preliminary case history including current medical conditions. Visual acuities, dial in, phoropter, color vision and drop instillation.</li><li>
Special testing &ndash; visual fields, fundus photography, optical coherence tomography</li></ul></li><li>
Maintains contact lenses inventory and order trial lenses.</li></ul><ul><li>
Assist in care coordination which may include obtaining test and referral results and communication with various entities including but not limited to community organizations, health plans, facilities and specialists.</li><li>
Proactively address needs of the patients and families through the concept of population management.</li><li>
Effectively communicates with all patients with specific attention to the vulnerable patient population.</li><li>
Provide self management support in the form of patient coaching and motivational interviewing when appropriate.</li><li>
Acknowledges the importance of a team approach when providing patient care.</li><li>
Communicates and coordinates effectively when providing patient care.</li><li>
Actively participates in the medical home care team which is comprised of clinical and non-clinical working together towards a common goal: delivering quality care to our patients.</li><li>
Maintain compliance with the organization&rsquo;s confidentiality policy in accordance to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).</li></ul><div><ul><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul></div><div></div><div><b><br>
Qualifications:</b></div><ul><li>
High school graduate/GED</li><li>
Must believe in health care with dignity for all</li><li>
A strong commitment to customer care and confidence in dealing with people</li><li>
Strong communication/customer service skills</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
Working Conditions:</b></div><ul><li>
Position requires manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment.</li><li>
Position requires standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
