<div>About the Role 
 
Van&rsquo;s Home Center is hiring a Part-Time Farm Hand whose work will directly support the daily operations and mission of &quot;My Little Barn&quot;, a nonprofit farm by Rea's Heart dedicated to creating a place of healing, connection, and hope for children and families. While Van&rsquo;s is the employer of record, this position is performed entirely on-site at the farm in Huntertown and is integral to ensuring the animals and facilities are cared for with excellence. 
 
This role requires consistent availability to complete morning and evening feedings. In addition to animal care, the position involves hands-on maintenance, repairs, and small construction projects around the farm. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
Daily Animal Care (Twice Per Day) Animals: Mini Donkeys, Mini Cows, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Rabbits, and Chickens 
 
Feed, water, and care for animals every morning and evening. Prefer 6-7 day availability, but some flexibility exist.

</li>Conduct wellness checks and promptly report any concerns

</li>Muck stalls, clean pens, refresh bedding, and maintain clean barn environments 
<li>
</li>Assist with safe and compassionate animal handling and basic grooming 
<li>
</li>Ensure all animals are secure and their living areas meet safety standards 
<li>
</li></ul>Farm Maintenance &amp; Handyman Duties 
 
Perform routine repairs on barns, shelters, fences, stalls, and equipment 
<ul><li>
</li>Install or repair fencing and gates 
<li>
</li>Assist with small building projects and property improvements 
<li>
</li>Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition 
<li>
</li>Proactively identify and communicate maintenance and safety needs 
<li>

<ul><li>Represent both Van&rsquo;s Home Center and Rea&rsquo;s Heart professionally 
</li><li>Demonstrate compassion, kindness, and respect toward animals, staff, families, and volunteers</li></ul> 
Follow all safety procedures for tools, equipment, animals, and property 
<ul><li>
</li>Work independently and reliably, especially for daily feeding routines 
<li>
</li></ul>Qualifications 
 
Experience with farm animals preferred 
<ul><li>
</li>Handyman, carpentry, or light construction experience required 
<li>
</li>Ability to lift 50&ndash;75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks 
<li>
</li>Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons 
<li>
</li>Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently 
<li>
</li>Dependable transportation 
<li>
</li>Must be available for both morning and evening feedings. Each feeding typically takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. 
<li>
</li><li>Successful completion of a background check is required 
</li>A heart for supporting Rea&rsquo;s Heart&rsquo;s mission is highly valued

</li></ul>Hours &amp; Compensation 
 
Approximately 20&ndash;25 hours per week 
<ul><li>
</li>Required morning and evening duties daily 
<li>
</li>Additional hours available for maintenance or seasonal projects 
<li>
</li><li>$25.00 per hour</li></ul>
