 <div>VCA Brookline Animal Hospital is looking for a Pharmacy and Inventory Certified Veterinary Technician.

Under the guidance and direction of the Hospital Manager, Medical Directors, and Technician Supervisor, the Pharmacy and Inventory Technician is responsible for all tasks relating to the filling and dispensing of all patient medications (including controlled substances) and preventatives. Purchasing responsibilities include maintaining inventory, ordering, receiving and distributing supplies, while being mindful of expenses.
The Pharmacy Technician maintains controlled drug inventory and performs regular audits according to VCA&rsquo;s policies. Additional duties may be added as necessary but will at least include assisting veterinary technicians with triaging phone calls, packing laboratory samples, and some floor work. Responsibilities must be performed while having an eye for detail and the ability to anticipate the supply needs for the hospital.
Compensation: $25 - $30 / hr based on skill set and experience.
Schedule: Full time, days, evenings, and weekends.
Minimum qualifications:<ul><li>
2+ years&rsquo; experience in the veterinary industry</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree and/or Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred</li><li>
Strong organizational ability and attention to detail</li><li>
Must be able to develop and maintain effective and positive work relationships with other employees and representatives of private and public agencies</li></ul>
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<ul><li>
Previous experience or training/education working in a pharmacy.</li><li>
Previous controlled drug handling, reconciling records and performing audits.</li><li>
Must be friendly, outgoing, &ldquo;people oriented&rdquo;.</li><li>
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.</li><li>
Telephone and computer skills.</li><li>
Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks at once, and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities.</li><li>
Intermediate math skills and excellent visual acuity sufficient for alphabetization.</li><li>
Must be able to interact with all levels of staffing in a professional manner.</li></ul>
Physical Requirements<ul><li>
Dependable attendance is required</li><li>
Any allergies to animals must be controlled through medication</li><li>
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.</li><li>
Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions.</li><li>
This position requires the ability to lift up to 40lbs, sit, walk, squat, bend, stand, reach, lift and type constantly during a minimum of 8 hours a day.</li><li>
Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions</li><li>
Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone</li><li>
Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as syringes, laboratory equipment, computers, etc.</li><li>
Adhere to appropriate dress code to include proper scrubs and nametag.</li></ul>
