Veho&rsquo;s Data Science team is core to Veho&rsquo;s ability to deliver millions of packages by creating the systems that drive forecasting, network orchestration, pricing, and routing decisions. Being part of this team, the Machine Learning Operations team drives the foundation of these systems by being a partner to the data scientists to create well-designed, stable, and performant systems.</p><p>
As the Technical Lead Manager, you&rsquo;ll own our Data Science platform and our 1-2 year roadmap for creating a sophisticated and stable platform that keeps up with Veho&rsquo;s rapid growth. You and your team embed into science projects so engineering quality is built in from day one, and create the templates to get new systems up and running quickly. </p><p><b>About the Role</b></p><p>
As Principal Product Manager, Transportation, you own the product strategy and execution for the technology that drives Veho's first and middle mile shipments. Your portfolio spans the full TMS suite: First and Middle-Mile Execution, Lane Setup and Management, Carrier Management and Integration, Shipment Tracking, and Check-In/Check-Out processes.</p><p>
This role sits at the intersection of complex logistics and high-scale software. You will partner tightly with Network Optimization, Under the Roof Product, Finance, and Transportation Operations. Your success will be measured by network-wide cost-per-package mile, on-time arrival (OTA), and linehaul utilization.</p><ul><li>You are a builder, not just a delegator. You prototype, use AI tools, and ship solutions yourself &mdash; and you design for simplicity because operator adoption is the only metric that matters for tooling.</li><li>You think in systems. A delay in a middle-mile leg affects facility labor staffing, which affects driver launch times. You translate that into product requirements that engineers can build and operators can execute.</li><li>You are an exceptional communicator with high ownership. You present clearly to executives, write PRDs that engineers actually read, and earn credibility with operators by deeply understanding their world.</li><li>You operate with speed, make decisions with conviction, and have a low tolerance for bureaucracy.</li><li>You have a strong mental model for what good PM work looks like and can coach people to get there &mdash; whether or not you have formally managed PMs before</li></ul><p><b>

Portfolio Strategy &amp; Vision:</b> You own the 1&ndash;2 year transportation technology strategy, deciding where to invest, divest, or double down. You author the planning narratives and operating frameworks that define how we move packages between facilities.</p></li><li><p><b>
Metric Ownership &amp; Rigor:</b> You own the area-level metric framework, presenting network health and performance to the Executive team. You create the WBR/MBR operating cadence for metrics-driven decisions, holding teams accountable for initiatives that don't meet ROI targets.</p></li><li><p><b>
Execution</b> You allocate engineering capacity across your portfolio by strategic priority. You make high-level decisions for transportation management systems (TMS) or routing engines and are accountable for the area&rsquo;s overall quality.</p></li><li><p><b>
Management of Leaders:</b> You manage Senior PMs, coaching them on strategy quality and organizational design rather than day-to-day spec writing.</p></li><li><p><b>

Layer in client events DS doesn't see.</b> Maintain a live calendar of client sales, promos, launches, and known volume pulls. Own the daily variance review.</b> Review forecast vs. actual at planning grain daily, tag root cause (DS model miss, missed client event, facility execution, data issue, real demand surprise), and feed learnings back to DS and into the next plan. Be the named owner of the planning number.</b> Defend it to Ground Ops, Transpo, and leadership; adjust it when new information justifies it. Metric: % of operations plans (labor + trucks) aligned to the central planning forecast.</p></li><li><p><b>
Operate inside Volume Radar.</b> Build the internal planning dashboard daily, read forecast-vs.-real-time signals, and escalate hot facilities with context. Provide structured feedback to engineering on tool improvements. Metric: time-to-escalation; quality of product feedback.</p></li></ul><p>
