Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Location: New York, NY Position Type: Full-TimePosition SummaryVenture House, Inc. is a community based non-profit mental health agency, serving adults who are living with mental health conditions. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of the organization. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the organization&rsquo;s financial systems, supporting budget preparation, managing the general ledger, and assisting with monthly and year-end financial reporting.The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience and be adept at working with government-funded programs, cost allocation methodologies, and financial reporting requirements. The candidate must be comfortable working in a shared office environment on a daily basis with individuals living with mental health conditions. The ideal candidate will be creative and strategic in addressing and resolving fiscal matters.---Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management &amp; Accounting&middot; Assist the CFO with annual budget preparation and financial projections for agency programs and administrative departments.&middot; Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.&middot; Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.&middot; Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations on a regular basis.&middot; Monitor and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries to ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.Cost Allocation &amp; Grant Management&middot; Support the development and maintenance of cost allocation methodologies across multiple programs and funding sources.&middot; Assist in tracking grant expenditures and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.&middot; Prepare financial reports required for government contracts and grant reporting.&middot; Assist in preparing Consolidated Fiscal Reports (CFR)Financial Reporting&middot; Prepare internal monthly financial reports comparing actual performance to budget.&middot; Assist the CFO in preparing financial reports for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.&middot; Support the preparation of documentation for annual audits, funder reviews, and regulatory filings.Systems &amp; Process Improvement&middot; Maintain and improve accounting procedures to strengthen internal controls and financial efficiency.&middot; Assist in maintaining accurate financial data within accounting systems and supporting systems integration when necessary.---Required QualificationsEducation &amp; Experience&middot; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.&middot; 3&ndash;5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or government-funded organization.&middot; Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.Technical Skills&middot; Required:o Proficiency in QuickBookso Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis&middot; Preferred:o Knowledge of NYC PASSPorto Experience with New York Statewide Financial System (SFS)o Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge---Core Competencies&middot; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills&middot; Excellent attention to detail and accuracy&middot; Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines&middot; Strong organizational and documentation skills&middot; Ability to work independently while collaborating with senior leadership&middot; Strong written and verbal communication skills---Additional Preferred Qualifications&middot; Experience working with government-funded programs, particularly New York State or New York City contracts.&middot; Familiarity with cost allocation plans and indirect cost methodologies.&middot; Experience assisting with annual audits and financial compliance reviews.&middot; CPA or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply.Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>403(b)</li><li>403(b) matching</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Disability insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid sick time</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Tuition reimbursement</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
