We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Workers&rsquo; Compensation Defense Legal Assistant to represent our team in Central Missouri.We're currently looking for a remote Legal Assistant who shares our commitment to justice, attention to detail, and genuine compassion for clients.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Answering phones</li><li>Scheduling meetings</li><li>Filing correspondence and other documents received via physical mail, email and/or fax</li><li>Calendaring tasks for the attorney to review and/or respond</li><li>Organizing medical records and claim documents</li><li>Proofreading drafts created by attorneys and paralegals</li><li>Entering billing and expenses each day as it is sent</li><li>Posting expenses to files and update the attorney&rsquo;s monthly expenses report</li><li>Editing dictated letters and sending to attorney and/or paralegal for review and approval</li><li>Sending out correspondence on behalf of the attorney/paralegal to appropriate parties as directed</li><li>Filing any pleadings as needed with courts for things such as Entry of Appearance, Answers, Open Records Requests, Requests for Conferences/Pre-Hearing Conferences/Mediation</li><li>Setting up Depositions as directed by Paralegal</li><li>Setting up IME appointments as directed by the Paralegal</li><li>Reviewing attorney&rsquo;s calendar for conflicts and availability for the upcoming week</li><li>File court notices when they are received, checking the calendar to make sure the information was entered correctly and create tasks for the Paralegal and Attorney to review and prepare</li><li>Draft pleadings as requested and send to Paralegal for review/approval</li><li>Request and weekly follow-up for medical records as requested</li><li>Draft Open Record Requests when opening new files and when requested by Attorney/Paralegal</li><li>Setting up new files as they come in (shared with Paralegal)</li><li>Assisting Paralegal with updating matter pages as new medical records and other important information is received.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Associate's degree or related field or equivalent professional experience</li><li>Excellent typing, proofreading, and organizational skills</li><li>Self-motivated/self-starter</li><li>Detail oriented</li><li>Able to multi-task</li><li>Able to work in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Team player</li><li>Able to accept and support changes as they are made</li><li>High level of honesty and integrity</li><li>High level interpersonal and communication skills</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal document formatting</li><li>Excellent time management and organizational skills</li><li>Ability to work independently in a remote environmentMust be located in Missouri</li></ul>What We Offer:<ul><li>Competitive salary commensurate with experience</li><li>PTO &ndash; because we believe in rest and balance</li><li>Paid Holidays &ndash; enjoy time off for major holidays</li><li>100% Employer-Paid Health Insurance &ndash; for the employee</li><li>Remote Work Opportunities &ndash; flexible remote or hybrid options available</li><li>Great Work-Life Balance &ndash; no billable hour burnout culture</li><li>A collaborative, inclusive team environment with mentorship, experienced staff support and professional growth opportunities</li><li>Retirement with employer match</li><li>Travel expense and meal reimbursement</li></ul>If you&rsquo;re organized, empathetic, and ready to make a difference, we&rsquo;d love to hear from you.Join a firm that truly values its employees and the clients we serve.
