In Viasat Access Edge Devices team, we are looking for members of a software architecture team that can design, write, and deliver software services for our edge devices targeted for aviation, martime and other markets. Our software teams improve the availability, scalability, and operational efficiency of the services by building automation to prevent the recurrence of field issues.</div><div></div><div><br>
As a Software Architect, you will be directly involved in the creation of new designs, architectures, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. You will work closely with product managers, product owners, senior engineers, and team leads to ensure that design roadmaps are aligned with long-term strategic vision and immediate term business priorities. As part of our DevOps model, you will develop the service end to end including conducting periodic on-call duties using a follow-the-sun model.</div><div></div><div><br>
As a software architect, you will also be responsible for evolving the software practices in use by the development teams to drive improvements to quality, agility.</div><br>

<b>The day-to-day</b><div><br>
Your team is engaged in an exciting integration of multiple global satellite networks. Our venues meet the market needs of multiple businesses including maritime, business aviation, and commercial aviation. As some of our markets have very high standards and are regulated, our architecture must be flexible enough to meet the needs of new and emerging markets while satisfying our mature process and procedure-forward customers.</div><div></div><div><br>
You will take inputs from customers, product owners, regulatory restrictions, and combine them with your technical expertise to help design a new generation of software architecture that scales across all markets. The ability to express these architectures as roadmaps with iterations on the way to longer-term end goals is essential. Your designs should be easily expressed in requirements that DevOps teams can execute with minimal direction. You will also be responsible to enabling software practices that aid with improving our development agility, scalability, reliability and quality.</div><div></div><div><br>
As a Hybrid position, this role provides the advantage of collaborating in-person at one of our global offices for three or more days each week, while also allowing the flexibility to work remotely two days a week.</div><br>
<br>
<b>What you'll need</b><br>
<ul><li>
Typically requires 8+ years of related experience with commercial software development in building distributed applications and with a Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or 10+ years related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or 12+ years related experience without relevant degree.</li><li>
Hands-On experience with constructs of Domain Modeling, Distributed Systems, API Management, Micro-services Architecture (One or more)</li><li>
Experience working with edge devices that have real-time considerations, device drivers to interface with peripherals, power efficiency, hardware accelerators (FPGA, ASIC, GPUs), Intermittent connectivity, require remote management and operations</li><li>
Ability to develop and deliver software using CI / CD and DevOps practices</li><li>
Hands-On experience with Object Oriented Programming Languages such as C / C++ / Python / Java / GoLang</li><li>
Modern methodologies for independently configuring, testing, and deploying microservices</li><li>
Experience with virtualization technologies such as Kubernetes, docker compose</li><li>
Ability to influence development teams with new software practices</li></ul>

$161,000.00 - $255,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $200,500.00- $300,500.00/ annually<br>

Viasat is looking for an experienced <b>Senior</b> <b>Global Sourcing Manager</b> to join our Government Supply Chain team. In this exciting role, you will work with cross-functional teams to support new and ongoing programs and manage Requests for Quote, Statement of Work development, pricing &amp; contract negotiations, procuring goods, managing key suppliers, participate in the Sales &amp; Operations Planning process, and analyze performance metrics. Your forward-thinking and ability to think outside the box will come into play as you develop, manage, and implement effective sourcing strategies based on customer requirements and technology trends. Your excellent communication skills and talent for getting results with key collaborators will help you communicate and assess daily issues, including engineering changes. You will meet the needs of the business and easily interact with division leaders. In addition, you will also establish and foster effective strategic supplier relationships to ensure performance and timely resolution of issues and negotiate and administer optimal terms with suppliers that consider cost, quality and supply continuity in support of unique program requirements.</p><br>

<b>The day-to-day</b><p><br>
In the role of Viasat&rsquo;s Global Sourcing Lead, you will lead and manage Supply Chain strategies for procurement categories of specialized products contributing to satellite antenna products. You will also lead the material sourcing strategy and execution for specific programs and products. You&rsquo;ll partner with other functional department leaders to establish strategic objectives and provide direction to resolve key sourcing issues. You'll work on complex functional projects requiring detailed knowledge of standard methodologies for sourcing and procurement.</p><p></p><p><b><br>

Self-starter who can adapt, improve processes, and find solutions</li><li>
Must have strong communication abilities, including verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the capability to influence all levels of internal collaborators</li><li>
Experience with MS Office and Major ERP System, including Web-Based Supplier Interface</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree with focus in Business, Supply Chain or equivalent experience</li><li>
