About Us: The Village of Onsted is a vibrant community dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life for our residents. Our Department of Public Works (DPW) plays a crucial role in ensuring our village operates smoothly and efficiently.Position Summary: The DPW Employee will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and improvement of village infrastructure, public facilities, and park. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to public service.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Assist in the maintenance and repair of village roads, sidewalks, and public spaces.</li><li>Perform snow removal and ice control operations during winter months.</li><li>Operate and maintain various DPW equipment, including trucks, loaders, and other machinery.</li><li>Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and report any issues to supervisors.</li><li>Participate in landscaping and grounds maintenance, including planting, pruning, and lawn care.</li><li>Support waste management and recycling efforts within the community.</li><li>Respond to public inquiries and assist residents with service-related issues.</li><li>Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.</li><li>Must be willing to obtain water and wastewater license; will have expenses covered by the Village.</li><li>Other various tasks, as assigned by supervisor.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in public works or a related field preferred.</li><li>Valid Michigan driver&rsquo;s license; CDL B Required.</li><li>Ability to operate heavy machinery and power tools safely.</li><li>Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li></ul>Benefits:<ul><li>Opportunities for professional development and training</li><li>Retirement plan and health insurance options</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: $21.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>401(k) matching</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>On-the-job training</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
