Job Duties</b></p>
<p>
Provides quality professional human resource services to employees at an adult correctional center. Interprets policies and procedures and provides guidance on benefits, leave, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), payroll, human resource transactions, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), workers&rsquo; compensation, and other human resource functions. Resolves issues between Human Resources and Payroll, Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM), Budget, and Department of Accounts (DOA). Encourages, promotes, and enhances the healing environment by modeling the way and utilizing creative means to improve customer service delivery.</p>
<p><b>
Minimum Qualifications</b></p>
<p>
Extensive working knowledge of generalist human resource functions, to include all of the following: leave administration, complex payroll transactions, employee benefits, and workers compensation. Working knowledge of Federal and State laws, policies, and procedures related to human resources. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and apply human resource policies and procedures and to consult with management and employees. Demonstrated skill in the use of a Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) (e.g., Page Up, Cardinal, BES, etc.) in entering and compiling data. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills.</p>

Advance knowledge in Human Resources, a related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training. Professional Human Resources certification.</p>

<p>

A Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) Dentist operates a Dentist Office Practice within a correctional facility and will be a member of the VADOC Mobile Dental Unit, a unit that travels to other facilities and field units in the geographical area of the Dentist&rsquo;s base facility. Primary duties include providing routine and emergency dental care to adult offenders with assistance from Dental Assistant(s) and Dental Hygienist(s). The Dentist supervises Dental Assistant(s) and provides clinical supervision for Dental Hygienist(s). Performs routine dental treatment including examining teeth and gums for cavities, infections, and diseases; takes necessary x-rays; performs fillings and extractions as warranted. Diagnoses and develops treatment plans for patients. Responsible for the full range of dental care and education provided to patients, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injury, and deformities of the oral cavity. Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.</p>
<p><b>
Minimum Qualifications</b></p>
<p>
Degree in dental surgery (D.D.S.) or dental medicine (D.M.D.) from a school approved by the Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association (ADA). Other dental schools are acceptable provided the education and knowledge acquired was substantially equivalent to that of graduates from an ADA approved school<br>
<br>
Licensed to practice Dentistry in Virginia<br>
<br>
Controlled Substances Certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration<br>
<br>
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and treat oral health issues and inform patients on preventative care and treatment<br>
<br>
Ability to travel to surrounding institutions and field units as a part of the Mobile Dental Unit, providing dental care and oral healthcare to the patients at those sites<br>
<br>
Ability to diagnose conditions using advanced technologies including radiography and computer-generated imaging<br>
<br>
Experience with restoration and replacement of teeth damaged from decay, trauma, or disease<br>
<br>
Working knowledge of general dentistry<br>
<br>
Ability to communicate orally and in written form in a professional manner</p>

Previous supervisory experience or work experience training and supervising dental staff<br>

Experience providing dental care and treatment in a dentist office, military, or correctional setting</p>
