The Senior Developer is a key member of the Marketing team, responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise-level web applications and digital platforms for Visiting Angels. This role combines strategic project leadership with hands-on software development to build and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable solutions that strengthen our brand&rsquo;s online presence. The position oversees internal initiatives and third-party collaborations, establishes engineering best practices, and ensures quality, reliability, and compliance across our digital ecosystem.THIS IS NOT A W2 POSITION - PART TIME, CONTRACT ONLYPrincipal AccountabilitiesThe duties and responsibilities described below do not represent a comprehensive list for this position. Additional tasks may be assigned periodically as necessitated by business demands.<ul><li>Lead the full lifecycle of web development projects&mdash;from discovery and scoping through build, QA, release, and post-launch optimization&mdash;including initiatives that leverage AI-powered features and tools.</li><li>Serve as principal developer for internal projects, designing and implementing core services, REST/GraphQL APIs, frontend applications, and application infrastructure.</li><li>Define and enforce engineering standards, including code quality guidelines, branching/version control strategies, code review practices, testing protocols, and structured QA/release processes.</li><li>Manage project plans, task workflows, priorities, resources, budgets, risks, and timelines across multiple concurrent initiatives; maintain clear ownership and status tracking.</li><li>Implement robust observability and auditing, leveraging automated tools and APIs to monitor SEO, metadata integrity, accessibility, performance (Core Web Vitals), uptime, and error rates.</li><li>Transition existing codebases and digital assets from third-party vendor control into company-owned Microsoft Azure accounts and Azure DevOps repositories; formalize access, roles, and governance.</li><li>Integrate and manage third-party developers as part of the extended team; assign work, enforce standards, review deliverables, and hold vendors accountable to scope, quality, and timelines.</li><li>Architect, configure, and maintain cloud environments (Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS), including web apps, container apps, databases, CDNs, load balancers, and SSL/TLS certificates.</li><li>Own domain registration, DNS configuration, and subdomain orchestration; implement change controls and documentation.</li><li>Apply advanced security practices (identity and access management, secrets management, network segmentation, vulnerability management, secure SDLC) to safeguard systems and data.</li><li>Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations; champion reliability, disaster recovery, backups, and incident response procedures.</li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Design, and other stakeholders to translate business goals into technical plans with clear acceptance criteria and measurable outcomes.</li><li>Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders; provide training, documentation, and playbooks to support adoption and continuity.</li></ul>Qualifications, Required Job Knowledge and Skills<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.</li><li>10+ years of enterprise-level application development experience.</li><li>10+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.</li><li>Proven success leading complex, multi-stakeholder web initiatives from concept to launch, on time and within budget.</li><li>Strong understanding of SEO metadata, performance monitoring (including Core Web Vitals), accessibility, and site optimization best practices.</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and secure SDLC practices.</li><li>Exceptional attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.</li><li>Ability to manage shifting priorities in dynamic environments, coordinate cross-functional teams, and deliver results under tight deadlines.</li><li>Experience directing vendors/contractors and standardizing their output to internal engineering practices.</li><li>Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.</li></ul>Proficiency in the following (or equivalent) technologies:<ul><li>Programming Languages: C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, Bash/Shell, HTML5/CSS3/SASS</li><li>Frameworks/Platforms: .NET Core (ASP.NET Core), Entity Framework Core, React, AngularJS</li><li>Databases: SQL Server / Azure SQL</li><li>Tools: Azure DevOps, Git, Azure Pipelines, Azure Monitor (and comparable logging/metrics/APM solutions)</li><li>AI Tools: OpenAI ChatGPT, OpenAI DALL&middot;E, Google Gemini, Midjourney</li><li>APIs (examples): Google Maps, Stripe, PayPal, Facebook Graph, Slack, and related third-party integrations</li></ul>PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:<ul><li>Must be able to lift, push or pull items weighing up to 10 lbs.</li><li>Must be able to perform tasks involving a combination of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, walking, twisting, and climbing stairs.</li><li>Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to fully meet the requirements of this position.</li></ul>OTHER DUTIES:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position.
