<ul><li>For All Paraprofessional IV:</li><li>Holds a High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent and one of the following:</li><li>Holds an Associate&rsquo;s (or higher) degree; or</li><li>Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 hours); or</li><li>Received a passing grade on the Para Pro Assessment</li><li>Successful completion of the VCS&rsquo; substitute teacher training course (STAR) within one (1) year of the date of hire</li></ul>
<br>
<b>REQUIRED SKILLS</b><br>
<ul><li>Knowledge and ability to understand child development concepts</li><li>Ability to treat students and parents/ families with respect</li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students and student records as stated in the Family Right to Privacy Act (FRPA)</li><li>Ability to project a positive image regarding the program, the students enrolled in the program and the school</li><li>Ability to follow directions and assist in meeting the needs of the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for each student</li><li>Ability to work productively and enthusiastically with children, teachers and parents</li><li>Ability to assist with instructional tasks and activities that are developed by the teacher</li><li>Technical skills to assist in classroom instruction preferred</li></ul>
&bull; Technical skills to facilitate development of critical life-skills and program documentation under teacher supervision is preferred &bull; Ability to assist with life-skill activities that are developed by the teacher<br>
<ul><li>Ability to understand the unique challenges of children and families in need</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations and publications</li><li>Strong planning and organizational skills</li><li>Ability to accurately assess objective evaluations for teacher review and recording</li><li>Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with school staff, professional staff, school community, outside agencies and families</li><li>Effective customer relations skills</li><li>Ability to accomplish tasks with a minimum of supervision</li><li>Ability to supervise students when accompanying them to various assigned areas (only with proof of required training)</li></ul>
