Essential Functions</div><ul><li><div>
Provides interior design services for capital projects managed by the University Facilities through needs assessment, space planning, budgeting, specification, procurement and installation. Collaborates with design consultants engaged on larger projects.</div></li><li><div>
Develops space analysis and design plans that integrate programmatic requirements to provide solutions that are based upon proper principles of interior design, academic pedagogy and workspace practices.</div></li><li><div>
Develops and maintains the University&rsquo;s campus architectural finish and FF&amp;E standards for new construction and renovation projects.</div></li><li><div>
Develops and maintains vendor relationships to assure access to current interior finish samples, FF&amp;E product and price information.</div></li><li><div>
Works independently with Project Managers, consultants and key stakeholders to facilitate the needs assessment, budgeting, design assistance, selection, procurement and installation of FF&amp;E, signage including wayfinding, building and donor recognition plaques.</div></li><li><div>
Develops interior design documents including contract drawings, specifications, budget estimates and purchase contracts.</div></li><li><div>
Provides guidance with regard to applicable building code requirements, State and Federal guidelines and other issues pertaining to the interior design efforts or space utilization.</div></li><li><div>
Coordinates building occupant relocations in support of Capital Projects.</div></li><li><div>
Conducts site inspections, develop documentation/presentations and perform other project support activities as assigned by supervisor.</div></li><li><div>
Coordinates fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items for new capital projects and new functional designs for existing buildings</div></li><li><div>
Researches health and safety code requirements to inform design.</div></li><li><div>
Advises departmental clients on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination.</div></li><li><div>
Conducts ergonomic risk assessments to promote workplace wellness.</div></li><li><div>
Additional related duties as assigned.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Minimum Qualifications:</div><ul><li><div>
Bachelors degree from a CIDA accredited Interior Design program and professional interior design experience required.</div></li><li><div>
Higher Education facilities experience preferred.</div></li><li><div>
Required Certification/Registrations or Licensure: NCIDQ and/or Commonwealth of Virginia CID, or ability to attain either within next 12 months.</div></li><li><div>
Proficient in the use of CAD.</div></li><li><div>
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.</div></li><li><div>
Proficient project management skills associated with interior building environments, which include cost estimating, procurement, contract management, and budget management.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>

Physical Requirements:</div><ul><li><div>
Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.</div></li><li><div>

Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Working Conditions: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.</div><div></div><div>
Types of Work: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.</div><div></div><div><br>
